Because Baffoon isn't a word, the underlying message from this guy is the usual America-is-the-only-place-that-counts-feel-our-pain stuff which leads to so many long term problems. Obama's message was take responsibility for your actions America. Dude understands that you solve international problems with hearts and minds backed by power not by power backed by arrogance.

Much of the positivity about Obama is really relief at the departure of the Bush Cheney regime.

Good morning wave

True Conrad, but is that not our condition, rolling the stone upwards and it falling back down, without hope of suceeding we might as well not get out of bed each morning.

Right now it looks like Obama is going to try to reach the top, Why not celebrate spring?

lunch break mental gymnastics exercise.......

roll eyes

Being skeptical is quite human.

Being negative is another story.

Wallowing in that negativity is stupid.

In the last eight years, the US has lost the respect of most of the civilized nation of this planet.

Seems that paranoiac patriotism overtook common sense and provided an extremely corrupted meaning to the words Freedom and Democracy.

How can anybody look up to the US as the champion for Freedom when it uses tactics that go against the very Universal Human Right Charter????

How can one pronounce the word Democracy when a nation uses it's armed forces to occupy another nation? And uses it's supposedly 'in defense of the nation' set up called the CIA to usurp power in democratically elected governments of other nations?

How can a nation declare itself the champion for civilization when it allows itself to disregard the needed helping hand to it's own citizens? Is it civilized to throw elderly people in the streets simply because they have no means to pay for their care?

Is it civilized to ignore the needs of the hundreds of volunteers who rushed to help after the 9/11 tragedy on the premise that they were not Government employees????

Is it JUST to allow a huge chunk of your children to grow without a proper education?

JUSTICE, FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY.

That is what Obama has promised. Nothing more, nothing less.

You are all free to call him names........you are all free to accuse him of any and all wrongs......you are all free to call him a clown.....

But Obama has brought a new dawn to America.......one that will draw the line between what is right and what is wrong.

And if he carries on being as strong in character as he has shown to be so far...he might just make it to provide the real meaning of the three words above....

JUSTICE, FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY.

And even not being American, I can only feel proud to have lived to see the man take the Presidency of the United States....and for all it's worth, I will continue to give him my total and utter support.

And for the sake of humanity....you should too.

"JUSTICE, FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY." quotes from gozoman2

Now this is very interesting....Does ....could this possibly mean that either the new US regime and/or the above poster would even consider recognizing the popular voice of the Palestinians in having DEMOCRATICALLY elected Hamas as their representative voice to represent them!?? The election was open and many foreign observers, not just from the UN were at the polling stations to watch for any 'irregularities' and their opinion was unanimous: the elections were free and open; there were no 'irregularities', the election of Hamas by the Palestinians of Gaza were democratically elected by popular vote. Yet the US totally and absolutely refused to recognize a democratically elected government, just as many of the most ardent and boisterous supporters of democracy here on these forums...well, so much for your much vaunted beliefs, ethics and morality. ...
Again, go back to the history of the original PLO and compare their record with that of Hamas; compare the history and development of the modern IRA to the PLO and to Hamas. All once branded by the US and all their puppet regimes around the world as 'Terrorist organizations'. Very short memories and interests.
Will the voices at the UN that call for the democratically elected Hamas government be recognized by the US; would it make any difference? Perhaps the leader of Hamas needs to come to the UN as did Yasser Arafat, wearing a gun before the PLO was finally recognized by the world as the representative of the Palestinian peoples...even Britain finally negotiated with Sin Fein the legal voices of the IRA. All those groups fought long and hard for their peoples as Hamas is doing now, the only real difference is that Hamas is a democratically elected government.

I find the argument placed by Solitaire extremely interesting. Thank you for having placed it to me.

I am no scolar. Nor an expert. I just observe.....and abide by few, but strong ethics that have grow over the years.

Justice, Freedom and Democracy:

The right of all for free education.

The right of all for free medication.

The right of all to have a roof over their heads.

The right of a daily meal on the table.

If a society aspires to those four simple goals, for me it's a just society.

Do I believe the Palestinian people have a right to this?

YES.....with no shadows in between.

Do I believe the Palestinian people have been abused by other nations?

YES....with no shadows in between.

Do I believe that HAMAS is a democratically elected government of the Gaza section of the Palestinian people?

YES......with no shadows in between.......

BUT.........

Hamas MUST become a negotiating entity for it to have the support of people like myself who agree to it's cry for justice for the Palestinian people.

To date, Hamas has taught and spread only death and hatred. The tribe that boldly parades it's children in the streets clad as guerrilla fighters loaded with weaponry that they can barely carry is barbaric.

The leaders of a tribe that willingly entice their youth to go blow up themselves in public market in their sworn mission to wipe another tribe of the face of the earth is barbaric.

Their latest VICTORY has resulted in Gaza now being little more then rubble.

Tell me.....convince me.....how can I ever accept something that goes against my very humanity?

History itself should guide Hamas. Do what the IRA did, like other leaders do. Lead your people......lead to build however, not to destroy. You have only achieved destruction so far.

It will be only then that people like myself would support Hamas.

It is the essence of what Obama stated in his inauguration.

If you want to build......we will help you
If you want to destroy....we will stop you.
