My health is ok, over the pneumona pretty much (still have a pain in my left lung) but that probably wont ever go away, so no running for me from now on though i'm fit enough to do anything else!
Hopefully one day the planet will be normal mate, but sadly i fear your trusting faith in Obama might be misplaced.
His ordering drones to bomb inside Pakistan is a real bad idea, and every day more people are becoming more angry at westerners and every day it adds more ammo to the nut cases cause.

War is most of times a business of course but what can we all do about Pakistan and Afghanistan and what is going on right here and right now specially in those two countries Robbie?
I am certain Obama is the best man on job and my beleive in his abilities is strong even he as a human being can make some mistakes and have already made some mistakes of course. One of his recent mistakes was suppporting the now "former" dansih prime minister as the next head of Nato and not seeing who the former pm was supported by in European countries ... Sarkozy, Merkel and Berlusconi (the Facist) of course! Obama should see who are supporting the dansih pm and why and beside studying the mans years on power very carefully and if he did so then he would never Ever support this man for a job as important as being the head of Nato!
But then what? Obama made a mistake and then he will know better not very long time from now and maybe ......just maybe the former dansih pm will be fired ........ I am not sure it can be done because Nato countains a lot secrecy and it is rather difficult to know why people get hired there and is it possible to fire them if they can do the job right or what ever.
In Pakistan and in Afghanistan there are many dangerous people who are doing what they can to destroy lives of their own countrymen and the lives of the rest of us as well and I would be though on them exactly as Obama is and will be.... and when ever some of them are ready to talk then I would talk.

We are in the same trap that we were in Vet Nam now. Cannot cross the borders because a country soverniety is being violated. The longer we stay....the more the local government's milk the situation financially. They have absolutely no reason to end it.

Robbie, if Obama stands down on the Predator strikes...in Pakistan.....he fall on one his campaign promises here. That to engage in Pakistan....agreed it was not McCain's Bomb bomb Bomb Iran....but he made the campaign promise to go after them in Pakistan.
After tossing out the boots on the ground option.....if he back down on the Predator strikes....and lets the the Taliban/AlQeada safe havens in Pakistan....GWB's appeasement comment comes to mind.
He is in a rock and hard place here. He has little room to manuveur politically...his strong suit. And the two local governments are less than jumping up and down to this....other then the $ it brings.
Several month ago I read a report....said Afghanistan is 70% controlled by the Taliban. We have summer coming. They make their offenses in the summer time. They added Mushadeen from Khasmir to their forces last fall. They are attacking our supply bases along the Pakistani route to the country......
Does it get any more Vet Nam like than that?

Tom, I know what you mean about the British Involvment in the area, and how long for example the Afghans earned a living being professional mercenaries.

That used to be the Hub for everything going on there, and say for every stinger missile that arrived, some conveniently went missing.
We had a radio commentary yesterday from a journalist at about 2am explaining that everyone HE knew was becoming more militant there, and the majority now are really angry about the drone attacks.
They all know about the bombing of the wedding party, and they are furious, i mean furious....and public opinion is becoming soured every day.
Given that most of our HUM-INT is coming from that area, and the Saudi's, the prospect of our relationship is rapidly going down the drain because of these strikes.
Boots on the ground with tactical kit and support of the Pakistani Intelligence Service and the Pakistani PUBLIC are key to getting rid of the "Terrorists" from the region.
Piss poor leadership is wrecking relations with out Pakistani friends and will drive some directly into the hands of the others.
What price do we put on pissing off our allies and friends?
