I encourage a man having time out and going to a bar or whatever to have his own space.

I do not have a problem going into a bar alone.

Times have changed and a woman should be able to do what guys do.Alone or in company so go to the Bar and have a blast.Anyone thinking less of you because of it I consider ignorant and too old fashioned.

Of course she should, the only problem is that the badly educated others in the restaurant would not keep their eyes off of her and also not stop talking about her.

Back in the 70's, in my youngster, I went to a bar alone if I didn't have a date or if my girlfriend was busy because I love to dance. That's all I went there for. I bought my own drinks and danced with almost anyone who asked me. I frequented the same two bars and the bartenders knew that I always left alone.

And the funny thing is, back in the 70's, free love was acceptable and women weren't judged as much as they would be today if they went to a bar alone. I wouldn't go to a bar alone today because I don't have the patience to deal with men who would think that I was there to be picked up.

In my opinion, single sites are just one step above sitting on a bar stool. On the other hand, in a bar, you can look into someone's eyes and get a better feeling if he is who he says he is in particular if he is married.

I go to restaurants and diners by myself these days. I think when people see a woman alone in a restaurant they feel sorry for her because she is alone. But then again, being alone - meaning not with someone else - is not the worst thing in the world. I have felt alone many times when I was with a date.

I go to restaurants and cafes alone all the time. I often take a book or notebook and either read or write. Its nice to get out of the house and have someone wait on you. I used to go to the local hotel (bar) occasionaly, but found it much more intimidating than restaurants and cafes so I don't so that anymore.

I don't go to bars with or without friends. I do, however, eat out alone and enjoy myself. I even go to movies alone. I'm used to doing things alone-due to schedule conflicts etc. I'm not about to sit in the house twiddling my thumbs just because I don't have a dinner or movie partner.

I can go to a restaurant alone and even watch a movie alone, i also travel alone but i never tried going to a bar/restaurant alone. Though based on all your post maybe i should start to have that courage to go alone in a bar and not think of what people would think of me.besides i have no choice..most of my friends are married with kids and its hard to ask them out when i feel like it, they have different priorities now and i totally understand it.
