toranoga: Do the math "Peaches" there is a total of $280B in gold owned by the US government and it is backing up $43T in current liabilities. In other words, $1 in gold backs up $160 in paper. Yep, that's security you can bank on!

I didn't think the USD was based on gold anymore...Didn't they change that somewhere along the line???

I could be wrong but I thought I read that someplace...thumbs up

jaynimble: honestly the greatest investment i see right now is General Electric stock, price right now is around $11 a share, with a return of 31 cents a quarter, thats $1.24 a year, over 10% return and you can't lose because if it goes up, you can sell it and earn direct profit, it used to be up around 35 and if it goes down then you can get a better percentage return on the dividends, dividends hasn't gone down in over 100 years, buts that neither here nor there, socialism isn't what made us great and won't help us

well and one of Obama's top Cabinet members, was or is a head guy at G.E.....so it would be a good investment IMO because you know with all their carbon credits the've aquired over the last few years they will be pushing their products heavily...cheers

I lived thee...I know how the system works...I was also in the hospital over there for 9 weeks...if it weren't for insurance...my parents woulda had a 30,000.00 hospital bill...now what about those who can't afford that????

NOT to mention Canada's healthcare is no longer free...there is tax added on for health care...so much per year and people have always had to pay for their own prescriptions unless they have insurance that will cover part of the costs...so I don't make stuff up...been there...seen it...and know what I am talking about...thumbs up

I thought so...I couldn't find anything on it when I looked...but I do remember someone posting about it one time...and I think it's based on the stability of the government and the economy itself now isn't it????

People aren't dying. Friend from Harrisburg,PA had a daughter that was having constant headaches. Insurance denied her coverage to get scans saying "In their opinion, there wasn't enough evidence for her to recieve a scan." 3 years later she is dead because of a tumor that was in her brain.

No, people aren't dying. They are suffering first and dying for coverage that people pay for, but the companies deny care for.

Nope, people aren't dying. When was the last time you ever visited an ER in any major city? There are people dying everyday because they can't afford the basic healthcare that should be provided.

The basic rights of life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness are garanteed to us. It's time that we started to get it. Karen was 12yrs old when she died and was denied these rights. But hey, she is just a statistic and a made up story to prove a point until it's SOMEONE YOU KNOW.

Da10th: All I'm going to say is...Some people just prefer to sit with their heads in the sand and pretend that the world is exactly like their personal corner of the world and stay blind to the tragedieis of the world. G'day to you sir.

comfort Sorry to hear about that man....I would say the fault lies with with the insurance company... My dad had brain surgery about 7 yrs ago he after giving his boss doctors note he was fired, and beings that his boss provided the healthcare, he wasn't covered, but he still had the 70k dollar surgery. as they wheeled my dad to the recovery room a lady followed him in their and asked me if I was his son, and I said yeah, then she asked how he was going to pay for it... I was confused so I said well he has health insurance through his job(as meat cutter) then the lady said "well, as of yesterday, he had no coverage because he was fired" thatwas a shock, but since the company had only 9 employees they were allowed to fire him while on a doc's excuse.. So now he is in the credit bureau for it, plus he had a mild stroke during surgery, so for a year and a half, one side of his mouth didn't move when he talked, but the doc. said he didn't have a stroke, so he can't get any assistance from the state or the military, even though he was enlisted for 14yrs....

But he still got the surgery, but in your friend's daughter's case, I think it was lying by the insurance company... and he should of pursued a lawsuit... but still, sorry to hear that it happened to her...comfort

Yes and those are just a couple of cases...you take anyone and place them in those circumstances...and it's not just tough...I am sorry to hear about your dad too...luckily I hope your dad at least got to keep his home...I am sure there are probably been those not quite sooo lucky in other circumstances where they have incurred such high debt from medical care raising families etc and who are already pushed to the limit finacially...It just steams me that money is the bottom line when it comes to human lives....hug kiss hug heart beating

how do they determine who qualifies for this bailout, I mean I know some that over extended themselves to purchase "toys".

Now they are making their "toy" payments and awaiting the funds from Uncle Sam to bail them out... should they get the funds because they figured or knew the democrats love to give away the store?

how do they decide who honestly is in threat of losing their homes that diligently did all they could to hold on to it.

much in the way the bankers where partying in las vegas or some ritzy resort while claiming they where broke.

rewarding or bailing out bad judgment /behavior is ludicrous.

Tater: I agree the demon of a government we have, is all from society's creation over the years, stemming from greed and power...
lets not forget our nations laxidasical approach to real matters, while squandering on so called humanitarian aid to third world ( secretly sent as loans with interest attached)[ hush hush ] just so we can look like good guys. we gave aid to feed the rich uhmm did i say that? oops well? uhm where was i? and our over all complacency that things get better with each administration! we never demand a halt to laws that prior screw ups squeaked in on us. and the constant thought that nothing can hurt us cause were a super power? we cant assume the pit bull wont bite! cuz were american you pet it & ill shoot it when it bites ya >> post script? most people would rather sit around and talk about what if the dog bit ya? who's fault would it be? 911 how much money the dogs owner would have to pay if it did bite ya ?
rather than warn people not to pet it!! or get a gun and....
ok? who opened the gate and let the darn dog go?
see what happens when i get startedrolling on the floor laughing
