Interesting findings in this study.

I personally have never liked sharing a bed or even the bedroom. I am scared to wake the other when moving, which led to tensing basically the whole night. Before I ended living with someone else, I had heaps of romantic ideas about how nice it had to be to feel another close while sleeping, but in reality I got far better rest when I slept alone.

What do you prefer?

Before, I would have agreed with you.

I hate snorers/graters etc ( my reasons would be more selfish than yours!)

But now, I am as happy sharing , as sleeping alone (with non-snorer/grater obviously!)

depends on whos sleeping next to you really isn't it..was seeing a girl for a few weeks not so long ago and stayed over in her place a few nights where I just couldn't really relax and fall into the deep sleep I really like..this was because she snored a bit and she let out the most rancid fart I have ever smelled 1 night..i nearly got sick it was that bad..she said the next say sorry I think I farted last night I said you did and there was an awful smell..she got so offended by that..if you want to sleep in the same bed or the same room as somebody else just make sure they're not an animal ireland

I like my bed to myself.

Just give him a shove that he turns onto his side, that cuts down on the snoring. conversing

I tried that one before KN, even slapped his cheeks ,,,then I tried the other cheeks then it stopped only to start up again,

I was the one that left the bed incase I battered him.

johnjjm: well all I can say is your missing something very nice its great

I have been stuck in relationships since I was 17, only a year break some point when I was 20, and now for 1 1/2 years. I tried every position I could possibly imagine to get comfortable in regards to 'wrapping', but think I need a dragon who wraps himself around me instead, that sounds at least like it could work grin angel2

Things work fine when freshly in love, everything tends to work fine then, but once hormones have calmed down, practicality tends to set in again and I want my own duvet and space laugh

@ peach
Maybe he gave her some of that stuff and that's what caused it, sort of food poisoning uh oh

Tinypaws: It's about the quality of rest we get through sharing close quarters - for years and years

Agreed - my ex was a prolific snorer. And I can't sleep with snorers. Eventually, after trying everything we could - including binding his arms down so they'd not rise above his head (his volume control), and having laughs about our antics, it became so serious we ended up in separate bedrooms - commence marriage breakdown.

If you don't have closeness, you drift apart - become too independent again. I eventually hated him at night, with that snoring, and me not sleeping. Do that for a few years and what have you left? Not much. You're tired, you're cranky and irritable from lack of sleep, you bicker about stuff that doesn't matter in the end, but the damage gets done.

So for me? A strange prerequisite, perhaps, but snoring (badly) is a warning sign for me, personally.

Others can sleep through it, snore together even.

But I like a lovely, quiet sleeper.

cheers

It's just awful when partners that once cuddled, not cuddled but were content together and lose that loving feeling.

mjpd67: I might be this that and the other but i still love to cuddle god nothing on earth beats cuddling and holding a woman

You should aim in 2015 to say nothing beats cuddling and holding MY woman, not A woman.... else us women are just another cookie in the cookie jar. Imagine all the crumbs....

hmm.. what would interest me here is what length of relationships those who speak of 'keep it going' have had? Not a mean question, honest but really out of interest. There is that romantic idea about how that excitement and all, will last happily ever after, just - how realistic is that ideal? I would generally assume, most who post here are single, so that means things did not keep going, or maybe never got going truly into a long term relationship in the first place? What do you consider long term?

And for the record, if I do commit to someone, I am extremely cuddly, feel a deep need to look up and to feel safe wrapped in strong arms, but - when I am asleep that's not possible, is it? During sleep our aware minds are not switched on, and I really can't say I have ever found a comfortable sleeping position wrapped in someone's arms. It always ends with having to move apart anyway, and by that time someone is usually already in discomfort dunno

I don't really think it matters so much whether you sleep spooned, wrapped together, or back to back, as long as both as content and happy in each others company.
