Been here in China for nearly 5 days now.

Eaten, pidgeon, tentacle (from some sort of sea creature - don't know what), beef, vegetables, all sorts of fish and sea creatures (fiance is a seafood fiend).

Can't come at eating black eggs (after they are cooked they have black eggwhite and dark green yoke).

Can't eet the feet of animals or their heads either. Though apparently these are the choice parts for some.

Overall, I can eat most foods in China. Surprising.

So what foods have you tried outside of the usual western fare?

Would you recommend them as something tasty to eat?

I am not very adventurous when it comes to trying new food. When in Bangkok I could only bring myself to eat little baby octopus, which would be quite acceptable in Australia anyway. I saw bugs and things but couldn't bring myself to try them. I saw lots of orange coloured birds (ducks, I think) hanging upside down on the sidewalk food stalls. They smelt yummy but still I couldn't try anything. I wish I had now cause I think that would have made the trip more enjoyable to try new things.

Some western foods are also challenging for me such as brains and hearts, I have had tripe with white sauce when younger and it was okay, wouldn't rave about it though.

I love all types of seafood though thumbs up

Many cultures have some very strange "delights." Scotland has the Haggis. Pommes love their "fesh 'n' cheps" (probably Kiwis also with that accent). Aussies love a real hamburger with beetroot.

Yanks love their "coffee" which noone else could enjoy.

I went to the Feast of the Haggis last year, Wash... I still could NOT bring myself to eat it. Although I was served it.

As for the fish and chips in England... different to ours, but quite good. They also love their vinegar on chips, the table condiments always include malt vinegar.

The American coffee is godawful... I have tried it in several states and I wouldn't recommend it. Although the biscuits and gravy is much nicer than I anticipated. (Scones with gravy)

I tried black and white pudding in Ireland. Black pudding is something I had as a child, and I found it metallic tasting. But the white pudding is really quite nice.

Suicide_Mission: how is it wrong?

Hi

First, because to my knowledge, the sharks are netted in huge numbers, their fins cut off, and the sharks thrown back into the water.

Second, because I was stupid enough to eat it at a business function (with Indonesian hosts at a flash restaurant) without asking what it was - I would have passed on ethical grounds.

Third, it tasted bloody awful.

Fourth, I have become a vegetarian since and the whole thought of it makes me barf
