The forgotten life...
There it lies in a corner,
That life you wished you had befriended,
That life you wished you had become more familiar with,
Lying forgotten in a corner,
Lost in tatters in some pain-filled alcove of your mind...,
Waiting, drained like an orphan who has wearied of waiting for his mother to show up,
Like some once-hopeful wind that has lost its breath,
That forgotten life...
What if..., what if, you plucked up the courage to go to that cobwebbed corner and once again dared to look at that forgotten life?
What if, what if, you opened a dialogue with it, what then?
What might stir within you?
What abandoned dreams might be resurrected?
What feelings, what hope may once again burn brightly in your hero’s chest?
What lies might you not be willing to live with anymore?
What baleful excuses might you shed like a mighty snake waking from its slumber, hungry for a new adventure?
What emotional wrinkles might you discard, as you straighten up your spine, ‘man-up’ and go get that woman/man you always longed for and invite them to travel with you for a spel?
A most amazingly magical spel, that is?
What oceans are waiting for you? What mountains, what lakes what awesome deserts?
What energies may once again be found in your somnolent psyche, what might they inspire you to begin,
Nay, to finish,
To bring forth to fruition some almost-vanished longing?
What then?
What then?

Fabulous write. Thankyou
Another philosophical gem bringing to mind this quote from Coleridge:
“What if you slept? And what if, in your sleep, you went to Heaven and there plucked a strange and beautiful flower? And what if,when you awoke, you had the flower in your hand? Ah, what then?”
? Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Awesome write, Maestro...

Another of your thought provoking philosophic dissertations. Good to see you getting back into the full swing once again.
What if, what if, you opened a dialogue with it, what then?
What might stir within you?
What abandoned dreams might be resurrected?
Another superb philosophical write EGT.
Thanks for sharing.
There it lies in a corner,
That life you wished you had befriended,
That life you wished you had become more familiar with,
Lying forgotten in a corner,
Such a wonderful write Earl so very philosophical thought provoking and self evaluating
BUT!! So very true ..life can be one long what If's..... and not enough action
I know too well! when with honesty I examine my own psyche
My what ifs are possibly now becoming my regrets...lifes too short for WHAT IF'S

What then? Sometimes I think I long for the forgotten life. The late sixties and the early seventies. Times were different here then. I was different then. To shed those emotional wrinkles. "To bring forth to fruition some almost-vanished longing?" Need I say more I loved this poem and what it reminded of...
thanks for your encouragement friend...
