My enemy opened the doorway to heaven...
Life is either hell or heaven for me, and, astoundingly, I discovered that I, decide moment to moment what my experience will be...
For instance, the point was driven dramatically home to me, when, years ago, a defence attorney who was extremely hostile to me in court, finally lost his battle to get his client off the hook,
We wearily trudged towards the exit-door, and I happened to be just behind him,
He paused, turned around to face me, and very graciously held the door open for me to exit first,
Astounding and decent as that act was, it was nothing compared to what I saw in his very alive, very aware and very educated eyes,
His message, albeit unspoken, was this:-
‘The battle is now over fellow-brother, I did my best to defend my client, so, it was necessary for me to attack you and vilify you and attempt to discredit your testimony, but, its over now, the jury has spoken, my heavy task is done, I want you to know that I bear you no grudge, and ask your forgiveness for the vicious manner in which I assaulted you...’
Wow! Unless you’ve had a similar experience, you cannot imagine the feeling that welled up inside me,
My tight chest immediately opened up, way-up, and all the pent-up negative energy just evaporated,
And my hell was instantly inverted and I entered my sweet heaven,
I looked into his eyes, and my unspoken message to him, was:-
‘I fully understand now that you did what you had to do, absolutely no hard feelings, indeed, instead I send you all the love I can muster! Thank you dear fellow-brother, that through your grace, you showed me the door to heaven...’
Since that day many years ago, I’m still growing in applying that lesson,
Every day, every moment, I remind myself to enter thru the doorway to heaven, and to give hell a miss...,
This is greatly facilitated, by my making conscious eye-contact with my fellows, and, most importantly by directing my being to speak with its ‘heart’ and not with its ‘head’...,
Thus, head-to-head, I enter hell,
But, heart-to-heart, I enter heaven...

Nice to see you again
I am not, nor have I ever been a person of envy (but I acknowledge that all my other faults and character defects more than make up for that) - and yet I do envy you a little... NO! - not any posessions you may have, I have no need of anyone's possessions - but I do wish I had a little more of your unique brand of humanitarianism and understanding of the human condition.
I love your all too rare visits to this corner, you never fail to give all your readers here the most wonderful lessons in what human decency is all about. Fair wind to your sail dear friend.

It is always a pleasure when you pay a visit to this little corner with your philosophical thought provoking write's. We human beings do respond to a gentle word... Just like we get up-tight when people are angry.

Earlgreytea, this just moved upon my heart like a bulldozer! Yes, I do know this experience personally. In fact, more than a few times I was shown this grace and mercy in my lifetime. But recent circumstances hardened my heart and I alone allowed it. I choose your wisdom today! Thank you for this tremendous gift of freedom & life!

As always ones perception can make a big difference on how one sees things in life.
Hope life is treating you good
just sayin'
Of course that is the skeptic side of me thinking that
the softer part of me says, isn't it good to remember all the lessons we learned especially the most bizarre and unexpected ones?
You're a lovely man and thank goodness for that.
Nice piece of writing Earl.

A beautiful philosophy Dear Earl: As always, you show us the path to enlightenment with your words of wisdom and wise human insights.

Most potent and excellent penmanship , thank you for sharing and good to see you Earlgreytea ...Jesse
Hey Jesse, thanks for your encouragement, hows god's country = Florida these days? I miss it a lot, it was my favourite holiday playground, even though i was lugging 6 delightful young daughters and 'Mom', my beloved hearthrob and mother of my children, wherever we went, nostalgic memories...

Aww I see you are like me. Your feelings in life and how you view it can change minute to minute, in a blink of an eye. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as always some can look and see the light at the end of the tunnel as a way out others see the light as a train bearing down upon them. But the reality is untill one gets there they don't know for sure
