This Valentine is for a friend,
The one who always will defend
Me and my oft' transgressions,
You make each day more refreshing,
You hold my hand in choppy waters,
And love me like you are my daughter,
I want you to know at any time
You are my special Valentine.

The word Valentine comes from a priest in Roman times who wed people illegally. The Emperor wanted more soldiers, so he declared marriage illegal. Valentine was arrested and sentenced to death. Before he was executed he sent the first valentine, and it ended, "From Your Valentine".
