Saying Goodbye

You watch their eyes and look for the smile,
each day you held them close, touching and holding,
telling yourself, that love is worthwhile,
no cross words, not even a scolding,

You held their hand and snuggled close,
each precious moment treasured,
kissed their cheek, lips and neck, trying never to be gross,
actions of affection given but never measured,

Each day you loved their smile and eyes aglow,
you asked most times if they was happy,
hoping these are really her feelings they show,
talking slowly and not being snappy,

Communication at times was hard,
Even though you understood every word said,
reading you was like a card,
you never told me what was in your head,

Our Golden rule number one,
to always talk things through,
we both agreed this to be done,
somehow this got lost in you,

Even though my love I shared,
washing, cleaning looking after you,
it is obvious you never cared,
to say I did not love you, made me very blue,

Now your gone and loves not here,
how many more have you done this too,
I shall not hold on to your memory, even though it was dear,
there was never any us? just only you.
