You only have a day to live..
You need to summon all your
powers of being and come to
grips with the last poem you'll
ever write..
The field is wide open..
What would you express to a
world seemingly bent on self
destruction..
Or might you share something
simple and personal..
Or..something else?

I lived my life, sometimes wrong, but mainly true
I loved my friends and my family too

I had good times, more of fun than of sad
I was taught that great skill by my mam and dad

I smoked, I drank, I even puffed on a joint
But living life fully must surely be the point?

I travelled, I laughed, and I loved quite a lot
All this and much more mixed up in a big melting pot

I started out catholic, then rebelled contra its two faces
But before I die, I might pray again...just to cover all bases

Actually, I'd find one of your fantastic serious poems(all your poems are fantastic), and then I'd ask you if I could reprint it with your name on it... I might even add it to my little poem re 'leaving something behind' - that is, repost mine and then underneath add your poem - all as one post.

p.s.I'm sure you'll get some great poems from poets here with this challenge as well - very interesting challenge!
