Memories
I remember when life used to be fun,
watching someone smile with face alight,
been to many places, so many things I have done,
now my years have joined others in twilight,
Recalling all the times of fanciful glee,
sharing the joy of other people too,
journeyed along the road of love but now free,
missing the cuddles, holding and touching, guess am feeling blue,
Ageing in years but not in heart,
lined creases freckle my facial skin,
wondering if love could refresh, give a new start,
would I be welcomed as someone elses new kin,
So many have I turned down in life,
someone trying to turn my head,
being married then, always said I had a wife,
never once did I cheat always put you first instead,
Now I sit here just the cat and me,
counting the minutes, sometimes the hours,
keeping soul and body free,
even buy myself beautiful flowers,
Home is always neat and tidy,
sharing and caring no longer in queue,
time is passing, try not to waste idly,
need someone to love, could this be you?

About this poem:
When young we had many opportunities to meet and find someone new, now as time passes and peoples needs or wants change it is harder to just fall in love. Memories of loving someone, holding them and smelling their scent just linger in the recesses of our minds hoping to find that special person to rekindle your heart.
