IS THE WORLD STILL OUT THERE?

Deep within the realm of my home
Tucked away concentrating on my own
Thinking wishful thoughts of want to be
Dreaming thoughts of things want to see

Warm breezes – blue sky – golden sunshine
Flowers blooming – birds singing – clothes on the line
Tucked into a room pretending what is outside
No catastrophes – troubles or problems – not in my mind

Curtains closed – not a sound coming through
Easily dreaming of a beautiful day in bloom
Suddenly so quiet – waking from my stare
Peering to see “Is the World Still Out There”?

About this poem:

Update 4/2020: I wrote this a year ago February not knowing what was going to happen in the world in the last few months. Eerily it makes one feel right now with COVID-19 "Is the World Still Out There?" being so isolated. Feb. 2019: Sometimes I get daydreaming a beautiful dream and block out the world. Finally when I return to reality - it will be so quiet that I have to look outside to see if the world is still there.

Kathy ~ There sure have been times ~ wouldn't it be nice to be able to just stay there for as long as you wanted or needed to....

In my youth (yee gads...lol) I was very much involved in Country Music ~ when IT WAS ACTUALLY COUNTRY. There was an old song called "Make The World Go Away". The first lines I believe were ~ "Make the world go away ~ take it off of my shoulders. Say the things you used to say, and make he world go away.

Well Mc - just close your eyes and go anywhere you want whenever you want - you can take wonderful travels and meet wonderful people. Imagination is a great thing. Just don't stay there too long - you may wake up in a straight jacket!

You have to be a professional doing it or you get in trouble - so practice a little bit at a time!

I was once sitting at home just staring at the fire drifting away, not even thinking - just in a trance. When I snapped out of it I felt so relaxed and at peace. The thing that occurred to me was - it was like I had to be temporarily absent before I could really feel present in the moment. Maybe if we could learn to centre ourselves like that, we'd have a better world. That is what your poem reminded me of, and also of an unfinished poem of mine that I will put up here when I manage to finish it. If only more people thought about things as you do, godsprincess.

Thank you for reading Choco - yes daydreaming is a great hobby of mine - a respite for the soul from the reality of life at times. Kind of a managing mechanism created by God to release a little stress as well as prayer. Stay safe Choco and everyone!

Thank you Lily. We have been in Stay In Place for well over a month and a half. It is fraying on a lot of nerves and those who live alone

can be quite trying if your use to going out every day to see people. However, best to do and stay safe for now and to help keep the numbers down for the medical professionals to handle. However, when they keep talking in terms of months into the fall - sigh - some people (I can't imagine who) get a little impatient to be out and about!! Especially SHOPPING!!

One can only daydream so much!

Well....COVID continues and now my country is in a turmoil not seen since the Civil War. Will be recharging again as much as possible to cope with the new uncertain future at this time. Will also be doing a lot of deep praying.
