Threadbare.

a piece of me caught onto you
when you told me goodbye.

you expected me to stay,
then to run right after.

full speed ahead, tugging that piece of me;
again, you neglected to even notice
that I am unraveling,
threadbare, becoming
a single thread;
just a thread

Hi, 19chellebelle90,
I love the concept of becoming threadbare from a piece of me caught onto you with the .......d trailing even further behind. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much! This piece of work was actually inspired by becoming caught on someone in reality. I had been standing still and staring off into space (space cadet; I'm never quite "here" lol) when the male described put his arm rather possessively about me; when he released and began walking, I watched a thread of my shirt tug on his watch. I didn't move, thinking he would notice. He didn't.

Maybe it seems ridiculous, but that moment gave me this epiphany -- the realization that this was precisely how our emotional relationship worked, and he would never, never notice.
