Long years ago, I with joy remember,
when I met a man in his late December,
tho' his gait was slow, yet eyes shone bright
that conveyed an air of sheer delight,
defied the later chapter of his age,
intuitive his heart burnt bright ablaze,
I then, to this world quite new,
he by age, a sprightly ninety two,
with thoughtful prose, he in wisdom talked
whilst we awhile together walked,
Said he,"Listen well to this vast world,
then, the music of its spheres Heaven unfurl,
treat this planet and all therein that dwell
with honour, a magic cadence, then reveals its spell,
stay ever close to nature's abundant spirit,
for the jewels of live revolve within it,
respect your fellow beings unique individuality,
'tis the building blocks of Man's integrity,
relish shared toils, it's labour you'll find
will benefit the brotherhood of mankind,
culture honest, no false idols there implant,
well being of the mind, forever sacrosanct",
So know ye well,
the web of life, has not been woven by mankind,
we are but a single thread within you'll find,
what error we do to this fragile structure
is self-destructing and by tatters will rupture,
we're part of a garment, knitted tightly together,
united bound, the storms of life to weather.

The coffee shop in Prague you remember?
The one bellow street level
And that aroma of promise
We were poets that day
Our lives in front of us on an unwritten page
I rolled a cigarette
You ordered a cappuccino
I had mine black and sweet
And for a moment in that room
Full of smells of smoke, coffee and sweet breads
We paused our pain and smiled
And we were happy.

Maybe there are times I didn't tell you things,
like of the desolate far away place in my body
that I escaped from to find you...
the cold intangible spot that draws on a string
from my insides, thinning me out as from
an ever more threadlike tether
so that I'm as close to disappearing as I can be
as a person deeply inlove.

In this life
That seems like a sea
Of tangled nets
Bereft of emotions
A silent tear
Falls
From the softness
Of her heart
Without unraveling
The knot-She
Strengthens
In the tenderness
Of revealing.
Simplicity of detail
Beneath the nape of her neck.
Memories anchored in ink,
On skin,
In love, in pride-for Dad

Fiecare celebru pare sa fi plecat
Nimeni nu le aminteste în viitor
Faima este ca pulberea pamântului
Omul traieste cu ambele picioare în mormânt
O spune-mi, dragi prieteni - adevarul
Unde sunt zapezile de odinioara?
Fapte bune si dragoste neimpartasita merge
Toate frumusete piere sub soare
Lucrari in timpul lui pasaj omului se naruie
Nu a mai ramas din domenii fructuoase nimic
Verde verde a dat cale de a deserturi
Unde sunt zapezile de odinioara?
Muntii sunt purtate în functie de timp
Crearea ia cursul firesc
Every one famous seems to be gone
No one recollects them in the future
Fame is like the dust of the earth
Man lives with both feet in the grave
O tell me, dear friends - the truth
Where are the snows of yesteryear?
Good deeds and love go unrequited
All beauty perishes under the sun
In time's passage man's works crumble
There is nothing left of fruitful fields
Verdant green gave way to deserts
Where are the snows of yesteryear?
Mountains are worn down by time
Creation takes its natural course
Everything that lives is bound to die
And so the world is at once renewed
It begins all over again as always
Where are the snows of yesteryear?
When you ask me if anything lasts
It would be our sorrows and laments
Our lost loved ones come with them
All that remains is fleeting happiness
Do not ask if you don't seize it now
Where are the snows of yesteryear?
I look at what winter brings with it
Beautiful white adorns the land
And relentless cold is its handmaiden
Then I ask again where is the snow?
Alas, its the snow no longer with us
Where are the snows of yesteryear?
The question asked the answer given
Look at all that snow in front of you
It will not last beyond a few days time
Where my snow, have you gone now?
Thus the refrain of my song you hear:
Where are the snows of yesteryear?

About this poem:
Francois Villon wrote a famous ballad in the Middle Ages with the famous interrogative question about the passing order of things.
I have composed a ballad that invokes it though its more about the snow which we only get to enjoy for the short time its here.
And in life, our happiness is fleeting like the snow.

Smoothed and polished
On pedatals they stand
Names in brass
Carved
Gigantic forms
Bodies moulded
Carved
Chissled stone
They stand cold lifeless
Motionless forms set in stone

I locked you away
As a forbidden memory
Trying to make you
A piece of history
My mind tried to wipe you
Out of existence
But for some reason my heart
Put up resistance
I don't want this love
I don't want to miss you
But maybe it's my punishment
For what I put you through
You deserve better than me
I honestly admit this
So get out of my head
Go find true joy and bliss
Although I'm not the person
You used to know
It was for the best
You let me go
What you needed from me
I couldn't give you at the time
Trying to make you stay
Would have been a crime
Now my heart is beating faster
And my hands are shaking
Get out of my head
This is a mistake I'm making
I refuse to want you
I've got to stop thinking
But in a flood of memories
Deeper I'm sinking
I'm not going to look for you
Where would I start
The only place I've found you
Was in my heart
Who am I kidding
I wish you would return
And prove that of all the bridges
There's one I didn't burn
I wish I could show you
I've made a change
But I know you're too far
Out of my range
I said I don't want this love
But that was a lie
You're a part of my past
I just can't deny
Maybe we'll meet again one day
And my dream will come true
But right now there's someone at the door
And she looks just... like... you...

She is naughty,
She is nice,
She is a mix of rum
With a dash of spice...
Intoxicating and heady,
She could also be quite crazy,
Daring and adventurous,
She is no cowering mouse...
Zipping over trees,
Surfing on open seas,
Cruising on a motorcycle,
Should see her operate a kayak and
paddle...
Teasing and laughing
Always bubbling
Better than a vintage
Champagne...
Sarcastic sometimes,
Cruel never,
Loyal but fierce
Heart full of kindness...
Generous and sensitive,
Crying for puppies, kittens and
Movies,
Could scarce say no to a sad story...
This is the other me
The me that is hidden carefully....
The me I wish you'd see.
