Before The Gates Of Alahsar.

"Before The Gates Of Alahsar,"
By,
Michael .P. Clarke.

Full Version.

Bardic style.

Chapter..........1..........Part..........1..........1.

Come now, my Lords and Ladies,
listen now to the tale I shall tell,
the ancient tale of the dreamland,
of Alahsar, I lay before you.
look now within your mind's eye,
look on the golden gates to peaceful shrine,
they stand in wonder,
before a city of joy and peace,
a most ancient jewel.

I, your Bard, stand before you,
my words, I am ready to sing,
my beating heart of truth,
it shall beat the tales cadence,
as my words, I do speak.
Oh, Alahsar, your dream forever sung,
I lay it forth, following ancient texts,
come now, my Lords and Ladies,
listen to the tale my heart shall tell.

Never, had there been dark, in Alahsar's jewelled kingdom,
the sky afire, with a golden glow, in a night of lightened twilight,
all night, this sun would lie low in the sky, a golden glory,
this light of love, ever touching the beating heart of Alahsar.
The sun did sparkle off golden pinnacles and minarets bejewelled,
the sun, kissed gold so gently, and golden light did live,
my Lords and Ladies, such a dazzling display of light effects,
forth did come the rainbows of dream's desire.

Upward, ran the virgin white, stone dwellings, of the city,
they did tower to such heights, they reached for the heart of Heaven,
open your minds to the vision, look upward, upward, ever upward,
atop the great city, a golden palace, how that glory did shine.
This was a golden beacon to all, that Alahsar did live,
the city of dream, in its golden coat, arrayed, it did sing dream's song,
from the golden gates below to the golden palace atop, peace and joy did reign,
Alahsar, sing dreams song in majesty.

On the first level, the dwellings of Alahsar's mighty armies,
of the most sumptuous furnishings, they were arrayed,
seem within your minds, soldiers dressed in such regal splendour,
those on duty, they walk proudly. from dwellings to the mighty parapet walls.
They all know nights of passion, in rooms of silken beauty,
primal passion, emitting sighs and screams into the night
communal wash areas were to the rear of these dwellings,
they were behind high walls, built into the rock itself.

Can you see colours?

My Three-year-old Niece's child, blind from birth,
Her Grandpa, my brother.

Walking the garden, her tiny hand in his, showing her colours,

Tiny hands feeling the Green grass,
Little fingers grasping a Brown stone, warm from the sun.
Small bare feet kicking the Blue water gleefully.
Little nose smelling a Pink rose.

Can you see colours?

Sometimes we are too busy to stop and see beauty even when we can.

Twilight.

Twilight:

The softness of the day,
mellow tones,
removing the sharpness of the sun.

Settling down,
the birds chirping softly,
the crickets singing.

Bringing a close to the day,
a time to stop and breath.

A time to remember and wonder.

A Dove

A Dove, soft and grey, walking unafraid in a garden of cats.

A Black bird perched on a tree, watching the world from above.

A second dove flew down and sat with the first, beaks touching, cooing softly.

I was the Dove, and the blackbird.

To find the Second dove, to touch, but with minds, bodies and souls would be magical.

But, I have found that a Dove can fly alone and be ok.

About this poem:
Watching the garden outside, eating ice-cream and wondering why I am back.
But kind of happy to be back.

Jungle tales

The mud cracks on the jungle floor
the heat rises in a limp haze
a roar of birds aloft in the treetops
I take a bearing
its south to the town
but all I can see is endless growth
Wiping the sweat from my brow
I put down the rifle and open a bag of gold nuggets
three months of toil and this the reward
I laugh, for in this solitude I have learnt to regale the nature spirits
worthy companions, reclusive
Last night I dreamt of celebration
a senorita by my bed
when she spoke it was as if heaven had anointed her
to become my companion
but I awoke to only insects buzzing
and the wash of a waterfall
I pick up the trail again
for I must make the town before nightfall
lest evil befall a brazen soul
under the shafts of a familiar moon

The Rose

Within the blood-red nature of this rose,
Runs sap of life - without impediment,
A scarlet ruffle, in the sunshine grows,
Amidst the thorns of our bewilderment,
That blooms in Spring, before the Winter snows,
Banish Autumn, and the flowers' raiment,
To Time;- as long forgotten love affairs;-
Her billets-doux, the wind takes unawares.

Silent Serenade

There's a low sun that's silently rising
The majestic rider thinks I'm dying
The vibes between us are sighing
As the flames kiss the air
A warm embrace engulfs me
A bear hug in strong ecastasy
Strength passes, numbers increasing
The momentary pause, albeit fleecing
The depths of the connection freeing
A breath of air between the two,
As the old soars on with the new
That's coming in actually a bit too soon
As the delightful hug happens beneath the moon
Tears fall down my face, as my salvation saves me from
Grace

Firefly

My little fireflies send me secret messages
Those flying ferries with magic wands
Three short blinks and three long
Each species a little different from the rest
Like the songs of chirping warblers
In the breeding canopies high in fir trees
I watch and wait with flashlights and nets
For you to appear after the sun sets
After its brilliant colors fade away
And before the first stars appear
I watch you dance and flash and play
Moments of seduction swing and sway
Or perhaps just luring in your prey
I know not exactly why you so delight
That growing twilight with your lights

Love

A day with you brings hope of love, we both wear rings on our fingers too seal our love.
Comfort and happiness these are but a few, I stare into your eyes to study the view.
My hand holds your hand and will hold fast; my heart and my body tell me this will last.
Now I have you close, very close and holding you tight. Wow I’m a lucky guy as my mind screams out in delight.
So, rivers and streams may hit the seashore, but my hands over your body caresses my heart and soul forever more.

Cupcakes

I running out of room
For the stuff I have that should be swept out with a broom
Books, movies, and CDs, oh my!
But this year I will try
To find a good baked good
This woman told me I should
But the cupcakes had cream cheese filling
Plus she wanted eight dollars for four in the billing
I said to myself I don't want stuff in my cupcake
Away from this garage sale to someone else who knows how to bake
So away I drove and could not find
A lady told me, not in front of the building, but behind
So the chocolate cupcakes I got, which was nice
And I got them for half the price!
