The blogs are ok

The fella's ok, he's just a bit old
A maths geek comes in from the cold
It's not representative
When he's argumentative
But when making maths blogs
He outdoes most the slobs.

These blogs help me relearn
Mathematics I've spurned
When my wild days
Left my mind in a haze.

But now I am sober
(Much like a judge)
Notation is clear
For math, you can't fudge.

Knowledge comes back
I once thought I'd lost
I'm on the right track
I've paid off the cost.

Be real is now here
With a laser-like mind
Soaking up figures
And things of that kind.

Maybe in blog land
Things would be more pleasant
If those would understand
Who act like a peasant

The lady's mostly ok
(She is good too)
So on with this blog
With less hullabaloo!

Be real on Poets' Corner

Don't knock the poet
Who puts work here for free
Just so you know it
That poets me

My words not obtuse
Or like Dr Seuss
I'll leave that to others
To act like a goose!

With wit and with flair
Be real has been there
The verse of Bereal
The poetic real deal!

If verse is sub par
It will not go far
Others may read it
But they will not feel it

Bereal's been around
the block once or twice
He's an excellent Poet
So take his advice:

Drop into the corner
(As I do the blogs)
Widen horizons
And don't be a snob

I'd challenge some here
To a poetry slam
But then their fair faces
Would be covered in jam!

There's other ace poets
On the Corner with me
So don't be a bigot
Click on there and see!

The Old Codger

I talk to the old codger
But he's an old dodger
As sly as a wisp of smoke

In due proportions
Not gross distortions
I now beseech
You old bloke

To present the question
(That's just a suggestion)
In format that's not from Mars

Or have you been reeling
From lack of feeling
And falling down in bars?

Pythagoras

The paradox of root 2,
Pythagoras knew what to do;
The first thing was;-
Not to eat a bean;
The second was:
What the hell,
Does this "pi thing" mean?

About this poem:
The marvel of the Ancient Greeks....

The term pi, was not used by Pythagoras, at the time...(hence the inverted commas)....But it amounts to the SAME thing!....(The ratio of a circle's circumference/diameter), and he DID wonder rather a lot about that!

Cross Road

The many times crossroads have appeared
in front of me
daring me to choose, to pick one, only one
but of course, I have choices, beyond
any crossroad.

Once there

West, pushed them west, to the point
where the sun hides
push them so far away until no trace
what damn race, evil they are
Christians like us will set them on fire
and our fire is war
they have no land, gold, water, god is with us
and god told us, erased them, erased them
brown skin, sinners they are, you, them,
don't belong, we are Christians.

The 4th of July

Fireworks
that's the main way I celebrate this holiday
I spent about fifty bucks on various fountains
The good stuff that goes boom or in the sky is illegal
I also am going to watch Independence Day
The one with Will Smith smacking some aliens
Not Chris Rock
Music is another thing I do
American Made by The Oak Ridge Boys
American Pie by Don McLean
Voices That Care
National Anthem by Whitney Houston
God Bless The USA by Lee Greenwood
wearing my flag socks and Mickey Mouse 4th of July parade shirt of 1998
and
Eating ice cream

Animal jokes

A pony went to see the doctor because it couldn’t speak.
“I know what’s wrong,” said the doctor. “You’re a little horse.”

What do you call a cow with no legs?
Ground beef.

One day a duck walks in a store and ask the manager if they sell grapes. The manager says, "No, we don't sell grapes." The duck goes home and comes back the next day and asks the same question. The manager says the same thing again, "No, we do not sell grapes." The duck goes home, comes back the next day, and asks the manager if they sell grapes. This time the manager says, "No, we don't sell grapes! If you ask one more time, I will nail your beak to the floor!" The duck goes home. It comes back the next day and asks the manager if he has any nails. The manager says, "No, I don't have any nails." The duck says, "Okay, good. Do you sell grapes?"

Amazing

Amazing is the way you can't get it
for, it is to them to pick up
the pieces of your shattered life
indeed, mostly insane, cradle it
important things are those to be
collected from bottom, up...I do!
but, still, I do not
amazing, how thoughts could
make it easier, easier than to drink
the poisonous water, air, is not of my own
amazing, just amazing.

Fade to blue and grey

There's a girl on the poster board
you can spot her from the bus
a small alluring interval
on a mediocre ride
each day she fades more
to blue and grey
pigments washing out
edges torn
and in time
she'll be replaced
by an advertisement
for doughnuts
and all the men
will silently sigh
for there's one less peg
holding up the day
