The Royal Air Force without a shadow of doubt.
A small to medium airforce can still fall in amongst the category of 'best' as they can be very good at what they do.
The Aus airforce isn't very big, but it is highly professional and has been trained with one major role in mind - taking out all centres of control at Jakarta (literally) and causing an Indonesian civil war if they ever invade Aus.
Thats why we kept the F-111's for so long and when we replaced them we brought in another big fast multi-role jet bomber.

Why are there always thread questions about which country has the best weapons,Armed forces etc.
Why can't we quit trying to compare or show favorites? Or thinking that we're better then others? It reminds me of one parent favoring one child over another.

DjWabbet: There is really no reason to invade New Zealand, tactically it has no value (Unless its to be a staging point to invade Australia) even then it would be a counterproductive move as you would have to ship your resources further away to ship them closer to your target again.
New Zealand also doesnt have that much in the way of natural resources or land mass, so to that extent Australia would be the logical target as its close to Asia and its huge so defending Australia would stretch its resources thin.

Yeh thats all true - but you have space and low population density and to a nation with a high population density thats a resource in itself. Also, have you seen how in poor countries the food that goes to waste is soon someone elses dinner? (A friend of mine was shocked in India when he threw half a meat pie in the bin and three poor locals dived for it), well the same goes for natural resources. What we wouldn't think of touching a lot of our neighbours would leap on in a second.
Also - technology is opening up resources that were untouchable not that long ago. Deep seam mining for example. If Indonesia is ever fighting in Australia and other allies of NZ are similarly tied up long term it would not surprise me at all if a hostile south east asian nation had a pot shot at New Zealand. It would not be the first or last time an event like that had happened.

pakistan airforce. they can sustain a war coz china and USA continue to supply them with fighters and they dont lose too many coz everytime they have a war with india most of them run and hide in saudi arabia.that way its a win win situation for them !!!
