Have you seen the Bill Maher Mocumentary "Religulous"?

Now that is truely hilarious, and perhaps a good example of Anti-religous. But I'm sure no true believer would ever expose themselves to it...

Being Agnostic gives you a 50:50 chance. There has to be something but not sure what it is.

As the line goes "I know there ain't no Heaven, but I pray there is no Hell."

Okay, what song and by who?

(3): The Qur’an also mention in Surah Sajdah, Chapter 32 Verse 9 and Surah Insan, Chapter 76 Verse 2 that ‘It is Allah who gives you the faculty of hearing and sight’ and today medical knowledge tells us, that hearing comes first. It is developed completely by the 5th month of pregnancy. And then the eye is split open by the 7th month of pregnancy. Who could have mentioned this scientific fact 1500 years ago in the Qur’an?
(4): The Qur’an describes the embryonic stages in great detail. In Surah Muminum, Chapter 23 Verse 12 to 14 and in Surah Hajj, Chapter 23 Verse 5 it says that ‘The human being have been created from a minute quantity of liquid’. From something which clings, a leech like substance, then made into a ‘mudgah’ a chewed like substance, then made into ‘izamaan’ that is bones, then clothed with ‘Laham’ that is flesh Qur’an describe the embryonic stages in great detail.

(5): The Qur’an says that the embryo is covered that the fetus is covered in three layers of darkness, which is confirmed today by science.
(6): Previously People thought that the sun was stationary, the sun revolved but it was stationery. Today science is advanced, recently we came to know that the sun besides revolving it also rotates it is not stationary it rotates about its axis and if you have an equipment you can have the image of the sun on a tabletop. The sun has got black spots and it takes about 25 days for these black spots to complete one rotation. The Qur’an in Surah Ambiya, Ch. 21 Verse 33 ‘It is Allah who has created the night and the day, the sun and the moon, each one rotating about its own axis. It revolves and rotates, each one rotating about its own axis. Who could have mentioned this scientific fact in the Qur’an, 1500 years ago which was discovered recently? So Qur’an mentions several scientific facts.

(7): It was Edvin Hubbel who discovered that the universe is expanding. The Qur’an says in Surah Dhariyat, Ch.51 Verse 47 that ‘We have created the expanding universe The vastness of space. The Arabic word ‘Mohsiana’ refers to ‘vastness’ ‘the expanding universe. Who could have mentioned this scientific fact in the Quran 1500 years ago?
(8): Today science tells us that cytoplasm which is the main constituent of the cell it contains 80% of water. And every living creature contains 50 to 90 percent water. The Qur’an says in Surah Ambiya, Ch. 21 Verse 30 ‘We have created every living things from water, will you not then believe’ Qur’an says ‘We have created every living thing from water’. Will you not then believe? Imagine in the deserts of Arabia where there is scarcity of water who would have ever thought that every living creature is made of water. If they had to guess, they would have guessed everything but water? Who could have mentioned this scientific fact in the Qur’an 1500 years ago? The author of the Quran is asking the Atheist?

(9):Today science tells us that salt water and the sweet water though meet they do not mix. They remain separate, There is a partition and this phenomenon is very much evident in Cape Town that is the southern most tip of Africa. Even in Egypt when the Nile flows into the Mediterranean Sea. And the best example is the Gulf Stream, which runs for thousands of miles. Both the waters are present but they do not mix. I would like to point out you the verse in the Qur’an, from Surah Furqan, Ch.25 Verse 53 which says ‘It is Allah who has created two bodies of free flowing water. One sweet and palpable and the other salt and bitter and between them, he has made a barrier which is forbidden to be trespassed’. A similar message is given in Surah Rahmaan, Ch.55 Verse 19 and 20 that ‘He has made two bodies of water between them is a barrier which is forbidden to be trespassed’. The Qur’an says ‘Barzak’ an unseen barrier Who could have mentioned this scientific fact in the Qur’an 1500 years ago? The author of the Glorious Quran is asking the Atheist?

But what will you say about what is mentioned in the Glorious Qur’an Allah says its mentioned in Surrah Yunus chapter 10 Verse 92"This day shall We save thee in thy body that thou mayest be a Sign to those who come after thee! But verily many among mankind are heedless of Our Signs!" who could have mentioned this historical fact in the Glorious Qur’an 1500 years ago which is clearly indicating about the past present and the future.

(11): Qur’an gives the reply in Surah Qiyamah Chapter 75 Verse 3 to 4 that when the question is posed, how will Allah (SWT) assemble the bones on the Day of Judgment? Allah replies that we will not only be able to assemble your bone we even assemble your very fingertips. Qur’an is saying, Allah (SWT) can also assemble your fingertips. What does it mean? In 1880, Sir Golt, he described the method of finger printing, which today we use it to identify people. No two fingerprints even in a million people are identical. Qur’an speaks about finger printing method 1500 years ago. There are several examples of science. Who could have mentioned this scientific fact 1500 years ago in the Qur’an?

(23): I would like to give one more scientific fact that there was a scientist in Thailand by the name of Professor Thagada Shaun. Who did a great deal of research in the field of pain receptors? Previously science thought that only the brain was responsible for the pain. But recently we have discovered, that there are pain receptor present in the skin, which is responsible for the pain, Qur’an mentions Surah Nisa, Chapter 4 Verse 54 that as to those who reject our signs, we will cast them into the hell fire and as often as the skin is roasted, we shall change it with new skin so that they shall feel the pain. Indirectly Qur’an is saying, there is something in the skin, which is responsible for the pain. It is giving an indication about the pain receptor. At first Professor Tagada Shaun could not believe. On verification when he realized that this book is speaking about pain receptor, 1500 years ago, he embraced Islam in a medical conference at Cairo and said ‘La ilaaha illallah Muhammad ur Rasool Allah’. That there is no God but Allah and Muhammad, May peace be upon him is the messenger of Allah.

Then you pose the question to the atheist who could have mentioned all the scientific facts in the Qur’an? The only reply that he can give you is the same, which he gave you earlier. Who is the person that can tell you the mechanism of an unknown object, it is the creator, and it is the inventor. It is the maker, it is the producer. In the same way, the person who can mention all these facts in the Qur’an, is the maker the producer, is the creator of the Universe and its contents which we call in English language as God Almighty and more appropriately in the Arabic language as Allah.

Francis beacon has rightly said that little knowledge of science makes you an atheist but an in-depth study of science makes you a believer in God Almighty. No wonder today, scientists are eliminatory the model of God but they are not eliminatory God they are eliminatory models of God La ilaaha but not God illalah. I would like to end my talk by giving the translation of the second verses I quoted in the beginning of my talk, from Surah Fussilat, Chapter No. 41, Verse No. 53 which says Arabic Soon we shall show them our signs in the furthest regions of the horizons and into their soul until it is clear to them, that this is the truth.

Some may require10 signs, some may require 100. Some, even after a 1000 signs are given, they will not accept the truth. Qur’an calls such people, as in Surah Baqarah Ch.2 Verse 18 The deaf, the dumb, the blind, they will not return to the true path.’ The Bible says the same thing in Gospel of Mathew, Ch.13 Verse 13 ‘Seeing they see not, hearing they hear not, neither will they understand. Yes Amir2 Qur’an is quite interesting, I’ve read it and compared it with the Christian bible over many years, I came to this conclusion. Qur’an was written over many, many years finished by the time much of the knowledge was either in theory or already established as fact. Since two and a half thousand years ago not much new is new, so to speak. Plato was right on the ball with human psychology around 400 years BC, Pythagoras 500 years BC already mastered mathematics and this is only the ones that left writings behind but then there others who predated all of the monotheistic religions.

Religion can be more fun than politics but every now and then you get an Amir on who decides that his is best and floods the site with onerous prose.thumbs down

If I want to learn all about a religion, I will go and look for what I am after and decide what is best for me from the multitude of "worthwhile" opinions.

On saying that, Christianity in its many forms is the ONLY religion that has an escape clause where you can be forgiven.

Is it? Didn't know that.
But really they all have ways of getting to a good place after death don't they. With Is lam all you have to do is your 5 basic acts, eg pray, fast, ji had, etc and you'll get there. With others it's meditation, or sacrifices or whatever. With Sc iento logy it's auditing.

For the last hour, the Blackbird has been chirping away, enjoying the rain. The song is getting down to a few notes at a time now but lovely to hear. I listen to him bringing in the mornings and sending out the day. This one has been around since he was a fledgling and will come down within a metre of my terrier to have a feed of the dog biscuits. Like all the wood pidgeons.

I can have 20 birds out there in a suburban yard who have no fear of me or the dog. Modern religions are all about "man" and tend to put aside that there are many things around us that need to be considered that do have an influence on us. I do not support the Draconian methods of the Greens and the Labor(ing) party (just to get a prop-up for their Govt) but we do need to respect the Planet Earth and what Mother Nature has given us.
