Well... I am a psychic and fortuneteller, and I have had people coming to see me for years. Some people are against it, some aren't, that's what's so great about life, we have different choices, and different beliefs x

I don't think there's anything magical, or mystical about fortune telling.
Some people are just damned perceptive when it comes to things that most of us are too dull to notice.
Its a matter of picking up on information that everyone could if we hadn't become so out of touch with our natural animal instincts. Its a highly skilled social skill, just dressed up a bit as something else.
Yeap right .like throwing the bones in the ground and predicting the future and witches.-

Thank you Chris, I didn't see that. I only popped into that thread to make the point my profile was the truth, the whole truth and nothing, but the truth.
Perhaps someone can tell me my fortune from it...or their own.
Once visited a witch doctor in SA,just for fun.I was told exactly what my employee knew, who introduced me,to witchcraftman.- I suspected the bones thrown, not from the right chicken's.
ladymine: . Yep... Not forgetting the grass skirt and chanting of course :D
Rule number one about witch club: Do not talk about witch club! Rule number two: Never pay for a reading. Get one for free. Dont give any info. There is free Tarot and free fortune cookies on the net. Other than that I'm not sure what's out there.

Yes, I went to the carnival and the gypsy lady told me that I was soon to be hit by a stroke of misfortune. Ten minutes later I noticed that my wallet had been stolen.
It was almost as if she knew it was going to happen beforehand. Eerie, hey.

I'm not saying that there is no authenticity to some of the paranormal beliefs; it's good to keep an open mind. I do want to point out that many of the things people are told by a fortune teller are really pretty much generic. It is just done in such an emotional climate that it makes it nice and easy to fall into. For example, the seer might say something like, "You have a lively and wonderful gift-a yearning for knowledge and answers. Yet you find yourself needing solitude at times. You like to get together with those you love, but cherish those quiet moments on a walk, or auto trip. Trusting people usually comes easy, but you also do not suffer fools gladly", and so on. (These are all examples of traits most of us have, yet the way the fortune teller comes across, it makes us feel "special". Because it is said with an air of mysterious confidence, we find ourselves easily drawn to believe the person is "gifted", "qualified", when in fact all they are doing is telling a general story that can be adapted to all mankind.

Probably knocking my head against a brick wall, not that I care :) Firstly witches and psychics are not the same thing! Charging for a reading is wrong, that's why I never have. yes, a lot has to do with training your mind.. Reaching'the state of no mind' through meditation helps you to be very perceptive. It is simple to tell someones character by studing their hands which tell your life story... And having been Able to See people who have passed on since I was a little girl worried me at first, but now I see it as a gift, a gift that has helped a lot of people. Right, a gift I have never seen as a joke, that's all :D you may carry on bashing 'fortune tellers and Witches now x

Of course not everyone is going to believe, it's far easier to ridicule the inexplicable than it is to try to understand it.
Some of the charaltans out there don't make it any easier either.
i don't think it isn't allowed in every religion, i am not a good christian, but i have read about it in the old testament that we are not allowed to believe anything but GOD, and if he or she predict that you will die tomorrow, will you still like he or she? and your life will be much more miserable, waiting for the death angel picking you up tomorrow !

I was just wondering what you (and others) think of Sylvia Browne. She's very interesting, and does seem to know quite a bit about people she's never met before.
