Getting interesting this poll 
I'm another one who's a lot more standoffish in real life.. Events in my life have made me very cautious around people-especially if I don't know them. But once I get comfortable around a certain place or person, I tend to be quite loud and sarcastic. Granted, it depends on the setting, as well. I can be incredibly warm and sympathetic if someone needs. That quality, I show to everyone, no matter if I know them.
All in all, I use online socialization as a kind of buffer. Behind my computer screen, no one can hurt me. No one can do the things that others have done to me. Therefore, I'm free to show who I am a lot sooner than I feel in person.
