jono7: i don't think it's fair to single out snickers for additional taxes... as for banning smocking.. i'm all for smocking, and the more creative, the better...
oops...that was in response to conrad's attached file
funxsinia: That went soooo well to didn't it? What did prohabition get us? Oh yeah...really swell blokes like Al Capone rose to power supplying illegal booze to the speak easies in the Chicago area.
At least one good thing came from it, my great grandfather had to get out of Chicago fast because he was running a bit of a competing business with Mr Capone out of the back of his butcher shop. I'm glad I don't live in that hell hole of a city!
Worked as well as present day drug prohibition. Surest way to loose control of anything is to make it illegal. Last thing we need to do is ad tobacco to the list of illegal substances, creating another black market and criminal enterprise.
crazyblondeone: Hi there Rohaan my love!! I hope we are still friends in ten years so I can break the cigarette cycle for you!
Just messing with you
I'm not down on smokers. How are you darls? You are such a neat person. Our winter weather has arrived. But the leaves are pretty, and the creeks are getting larger.

It's hit here too! The cold, I think we just dipped 70 degrees, so I am freezing and still this migraine hangs on...
A friend from Berlin, sent me a cool craft idea on how to make colorful maple leaves into roses...I am going to try it!!
Smoking as you know Rohaan (as both us have worked in health care field) has a myriad of health issues. I just wish people could see this. One of my co-workers almost lost his finger to Buerger's disease, cause of it: smoking. Very weird what smoking can do to a person's body.
Carl96190: I loathe smoking. It disgusts me on every level. I do not, however, believe in using the apparatus of the state to impose my lifestyle choices upon others. Anyone who does would be more at home in North Korea. What I would do, however, is withdraw all taxpayer-funded medical treatment for problems caused by smoking. Medical problems caused by smoking are self-inflicted injuries. Also, treatment given is an exercise in futility because they are a smoker. This is why some surgeons refuse to operate on smokers, or bump them to the bottom of the list. Try getting a transplant if you are a smoker. The psychological profile of a smoker is most unflattering. Anyone who is curious should look up the papers published in various journals about the psychology of smokers and how tobacco companies exploit this in advertising.
You're right and we should apply that logic to suicidal people, alcoholics, drug abusers, people who persist with an abusive relationship, people who eat too much red meat, drunk drivers, people who cross the road at undesignated points, excessive cheese eaters, participants of extreme sports (or any sports), chocoholics, late night strollers in dodgy areas of towns, fair skinned sunbathers, etc, etc. Why should the rest of us shoulder the burden of their choice to put themselves at risk?

Cheese eaters? I do agree that drug abusers, alcoholics and drunk drivers should have to fend for themselves. As for suicide attempts, perhaps some instruction on how to do it properly.

funxsinia: If we ban smocking who will stock the shelves at the grocers? Who will help me pick out flowers for a first date? I tell you we need these wearers of smocks and all the valuable services they provide. I say NO to a ban on smocking!
No to banning smocking! I would get paint all over me when I was creating a work of art without my smock
