I myself find killing things a turn-off not a turn on, although I will buy certain items e.g chicken in a supermarket. I am also way past my years of camping.
I was wondering whether women found these hobbies attractive in a mate; also whether it was a 'cultural thing' as many more men from the U.S.A. seem to mention Hunting.
I love to camp under the stars, and I understand if a man likes to fish for his dinner or even to relax. Hunting is getting a little to far into he-man territory for me personally, but even so, many Canadians hunt here so its a persoanl taste thing not a condemnation on anyhing.

Wheres the "all of the above no" option? :)
Fishing is sooooo boring. Camping, nope, hate it. Hunting, no way.

So sorry...I was going to also add the negatives, but originally I wanted to see who WOULD. It seems to be a common thing on American men's profiles and I would not date 'any of the above either'.
I didn't intentional miss you (or I) out of the equation.

I actually find your comments on threads inciteful and interesting
i just like folks to be honest about their interests. i personally don't hunt or fish, but i think its great to have those skills for filling up the freezer. i tend to do my hunting and gathering at the local market, but i can spend endless hours along creeks and rivers stacking rocks, enjoying the view, drawing, or hand stitching as i love being outdoors. now there's camping....and then there's camping... do i want to sit in a one person tent in the rain...nope. but bring along a few comforts, and i love sleeping under the stars
montemonte: I did my duty camping with the Girl Scouts and a man I met many years ago. Now my idea of camping is a hotel with four walls and indoor plumbing
However, I do love to fish and would be interested in a man who also likes to fish.
I would be particularly interested in a man who would teach me to fly fish on the Black River in Montana...
Oooooya 5 star camping...I have to admit I like that kind too!
Hunting would be a big no-no for me. An interest/hobby/pastime involving killing living creatures is not mandatory and, therefore, is a choice. I find it unnerving and unsavoury that someone CHOOSES such a pursuit........
Fishing? Not sure..... boring.
Camping? Don't really have a problem with that. I think its probably a good thing to discard the trappings of our overly materialistic/home comforts/luxurious/everything -to-hand lifestyles from time to time.....? Back-to-basics/roughing it/at one with nature, etc can be invigorating and soul-cleansing, I'm sure......

I think the women of The Pacific Northwest tend to like their guys to be outdoorsmen. My grandma and aunts were the prissiest belles around, but they all gutted fish and dressed deer right in their kitchens. One (my fave) aunt could get up at 3:oo, change the oil in the crummy, wash the slime off it, AND drive the lumberjacks a hundred miles to their logging camp. She wore turquoise chiffon dresses, was never without a brooch, and almost always wore a very frilly/feathery hat.

It really depends on the kind of fishing you're talking about. Sitting on the bank of a pond staring at the foat waiting for it to move can be a yawn But being in a boat in the gulf stream going about 5 MPH when suddenly a Baracuda hits your hook is anything but boring. Even drifting for Fluke of Flounder as your sinker bounces along the bottom knowing that at any moment about a 5 pound Flounder will decide to have lunch is pretty exciting.

I think its great he has outdoors interests, will go away for weekends with his friends, bring home food and won't be lying on the couch watching TV. Fishing also should be involved and I would go with him.

If I understand correctly, Pisces, you are asking whether any woman respondents are "turned on" by reading of such interests? That's different from whether women are "not bothered" by reading of such interests.
Not being a woman, I'm not qualified to answer. But it does appear to me that some respondents have not read your question carefully.

Do women find this an endearing quality?? Just asking as that is the reason for the thread.
My niece went deep sea fishing with her boyfriend and spent the entire trip with her head over the side. She is happy for him to keep going on these trips...but he will be doing it alone.
I like the outdoors, but none of the above, you definately can count me out on a camping trip. I never dated anyone who fished or hunted, if it doesn't take up all his time, I don't mind him heading with his friends.
I agree Pisces, it wouldn't exactly attract me to someone if he has these hobbies. I think it's also a cultural thing, my local friends (male and female) are not really into this.

Hi there KNenagh Nice to see you!
Most of the ladies here that DO like these thigs are from the U.S.A. which I thought may be the case.
I am also happy for a man to have his own interested, however, these would not attract me to him.
I just think that for obvious reasons men and women have different interests. I for one am glad. I think its healthy for a couple to have separate interest also. Besides here in Canada, when the men all go off to hunt camp, the women stay home and party....See it all works out great
Seeing as I grew up hunting,fishing,camping...living off of the land,I find it a definite plus to find a man who shares the same interests as I possess. Once you have that animal instinct to hunt, you can never take that away, for me anyways...
BelladonnaMaria: I have a name for that .. Nothing but a mouse hiding away in a man's underpants! Real men don't hunt!
I disagree...Many peeps hunt to live all over the world. A LOT of Canadians hunt for food. Especially in the northern provinces. They feed their families this way and that seems like a "real man" to me

I can remember when I was probably 6 yrs old and my parents would go out hunting for food. It's been proven many a time that wild game is better to eat then the stuff they sell in the stores. They also put food coloring in the store meat to make it look like it's red.My parents had a grocery store when I was little and I remember what the meat really looked like.
I highly recomend camping to everyone! Whether you hunt/fish or not. Camping out in the wild under the stars connects you with mother earth and every human should be connected to the land this way. It makes me a better person for sure!
