Waterbearer63: Definitely. The obsession of women wanting to be skinny is jeopardizing their lives.
It's dividing women. For every woman starving herself to be thin there are 3 filling out on fast food, lazy days and mewling mantras of a delusional and often misandristic nature.
Too many girls are looking at these photoshopped stick figures and thinking "well, I'm never going to look like that" and going the other way and blimping out to the max as men, commonsensical parents and trained medical professionals look on in horror.

Obstainace In regards to your last reply about stick figures etc.I've never wanted to be like them or look like them.To me their look is fake.
That ribby, gym-bunny, stringy, broad shouldered, slim hipped look is too masculine for my liking.
I've just looked at well and am more surprised that the last 5 or 6 women are all brunettes. It used to be blondes with the odd brunette or red-haired interspersed. I wonder if the "ideal" look is shifting. I hope so.

That's because you've got common sense - a dwindling commodity!
I'm mostly referring to younger girls who will fall under this influence, but the problem for them is they will often keep the fat for life. It's a lot easier to get fat than to get thin.
And what with the feministic possession of the public airways and nearly every mixed-gender social context, you will often hear women encouraging diabetes, disease and death if this allows them to curtail male desire and to shade themselves from aspects of reality which require a sense of discipline and responsibility.

Oh I see said the blind man to his daughter.
I disagree with this sentence where you say that: (It's a lot easier to get fat than to get thin.)

Colour contrast works well under stage lights and distance conditions.
If there's a shift, I don't suppose its got anything to do with reality, KB.
All depends on one's definition of fat or thin. It's a matter of subjective taste, in'nit? I've always eaten fattening foods but remained thin. It's just a genetic thing, not something I ever even thought about since I don't care about conforming to anyone elses expectations of me. I make my OWN rules about how I live my life.

MrRick77: Are the woman of the Miss America Pageant to thin ?
YES, mainly... but they have a reason why they should have to be very thin : BECAUSE THEY WORK FOR TOTAL MARKETING their body is an asset for certain brands and it is very ridiculous if some women who are not working in entertainment business follow their lifestyle
what I disagree is they obviously fooled public society for their own benefits by using "plastic surgery"...I wonder how thick make up is not enough to correct their imperfection...
I'd rather ask opinion from men who are living in common people lives... My male friends and my brothers would rather choose school girls or workers class that are really just the way they are without any "make over" and "photoshoped"...they don't like too skinny gals...their standard is Cindy Crawford alike...

No, not until the tiara, when placed on their heads, slips down over them to their ankles!
I don't watch it, ever, not even if, tied to a chair & pistol whipped, could not care less!
I can see how it might send a wrong/demeaning message to, unfortunately, impressionable girls/women everywhere! And I could envision the harm in that, in that it may lead to self destructive actions on those females that, although ARE BEAUTIFUL in themselves, feel the 'NEED' to fit into some sort of societal/cultural myopic view!
Now, if breast whipped, well that MIGHT be a different story!
No, wait, that WOULD BE a different story, quite probably, a whole different thread!
