combatcarebare: well when i returned i was spat on at the airport and called a killer i just wanted a genral feeling poll as that hurt me
Hi soldier Count me IN for support - You young men are doing a great job in an illegal war not of your making against cowards - Not real fighters and you desrve better quarters and medical care that you get now ragardless of if it cost another 5p/£1 on tax IMO - END OF - I would as a pensioner happliy pay it.
I will always be loyal to my preferred service (RAF) and the Army too as my Bro in Law is a Brigadier retired (ex 16th brigade Para) and then RTC, ex ADC to HMQ and after retirement Sec and then CEO Combat Stress and now an OBE
(That is on record) so I think its bloody disgusting that the Military hospitals were closed by misled government edict after social engineering experts and the MoD accountants got it all wrong.
If I had seen it happen to any serviceman as a patient or visitor in any hospital I would immediately take on anyone who did it in public on the spot, regardless of who they were. I will do that same to anyone anywhere who says otherwise face to face nand I do NOT accept any neo political crap, wind & piss from parasites, socialworkers and bloody alleged expert *ologists*
Mike Dennis - RAF Aero Eng Fitter 1954-61 now 70 and still willing to have a punch up and teach the ignorant sub culture scum a real lesson - military style they would never forget.
Hmm?-Certainly wont 'Win Friends and Influence people' doing things like that?-Have heard of it before at parades-but,must admit,am certainly puzzled by the circumstances on this occasion??.
combatcarebare: well when i returned i was spat on at the airport and called a killer i just wanted a genral feeling poll as that hurt me
Never let something like that hurt you. Just take a step back and just Recognize - A person lashes out then they are in pain. That person is so angry with themselves for being a coward that they are lashing out at you for being brave.
Don't take it personally. Just recognize their pain and feel sorry for them.
Right-This is probably gonna get me crucified!-But there is a few aspects of this thread that have been niggling me for some while.
1.-ALL Battalions of British troops, when deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan are transported from their camp by bus/coach to the departure point-being RAF Brize Norton or RAF Lineham-and it is the same in reverse when their tour is over.
2.-RAF Brize Norton and Lineham are OFF LIMITS to the general public.
3.-I,personally,have known many Guardsmen-who ALWAYS introduce themselves by their title:-ie.Grenadier,Coldstream,Scots,Welsh or Irish-but the originator of this thread describes himself as a 'Military Guardsman'-most odd?.
There are many associated questions i could raise further but in the posibility that i may be misguided-i shall not pursue them at this moment in time.
It is NOT my intention to demean or degrade the originators thread-but,in all fairness, they have depicted a most unusual scenario which is totally contrary to practise and procedure?.
I look forward to any response (especially by the originator) to dispel my 'perhaps' misguided view?.

I f you were spat at upon arriving home in the UK after a tour of duty, then that is nothing short of despicable, and whoever did that needs to take a look at themself.
Servicemen/women,when they join up,do not get to choose where they go or who they fight against. In this sense, the government does their thinking for them.
All Servicemen/women,deserve our unstinting support.
In a perfect world, problems and disputes between countries would be sorted out and solved by politicians, without the need for so much as a punch-up,let alone a war.
But,alas, the human race has a long way to go yet,if it is to realise such a utopian dream.
Beenabout: 1.-ALL Battalions of British troops, when deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan are transported from their camp by bus/coach to the departure point-being RAF Brize Norton or RAF Lineham-and it is the same in reverse when their tour is over.
NOT true...
Just this week Marines have been flying out from Exeter airport to Afghan and have been returning their from the Gulf for a while..
Beenabout: The term 'Military Guardsman' is contained within the originators profile.
Now I have shuftied I agree M'lud - the evidence is Iffy
Those of us who have served in any service normally state regiments, ships, boats (subs) sqaudrons, Air Corps, Rock apes, etc - unless they are Red Caps, Dog handlers Snow Drops, SBS or SAS, when they keep shtum anyway.

muleguy52: Stew, sometimes i think that we would all be better off,if women ruled the world. A lot of men love being ruled by women, anyway. More seriously, though.
In the conference room, instead of a bunch of thunderfaced, belicose blokes, there would be women representing the views of their nations, who would between them do everything humanly possible,to avoid the terrible carnage of war.To avoid putting the lives of their loved ones, their husbands, brothers, sons,at grave risk, and who in any event, would be changed forever, should they survive. Certainly, men have tried to stop war,but perhaps they did'nt try hard enough. Then, there are the men who want to wage war,and will not be dissuaded from their course.
Some may say this is too simplistic a view, but maybe it is a simple solution. But one that is not likely to come about, for a long time.
