kidatheart: They are two distinctly different countries, and there's NO WAY the two should ever merge. PERIOD!!!!!!
Good fences, make for good neighbours....and I'm all for a 20 foot high concrete wall along the 49th, plus something to block out all American television and radio signals.
Just a note.Geography made us neighbours Economys made us friends and Beliefs made us family.
Maybe if they did not become a single country, that might really intimidate some countries thinking the west was taking over for real. But what if there was an alliance set with some criteria like usa getting less debt and focusing on the continent where it resides. And instead of just Canada and the USA making some kind of merge, how about inviting Mexico to join in as well. There can be a group of people that keep each other in check somehow. I was thinking about down south and how some people come here over the border, but instead of that maybe it would be nice to make it so that was connected as well. you could wake up in Canada and drive or fly to Puerta Vallarta in the same day. have a ID that covered all countries. It would be great if all three could get along in a way that was even more productive than today. We could call it North America. Or "The Gyros" because I like those tasty things.
Scott1812: But everyone don t threw your visa away or start packing your bags just yet not much chance it would ever happen.
That's right, it would be silly for three countries to start acting in agreement. I have thought of this though and if it were to happen it seems like between them all there could bring out some very good attributes.
And like the Euro, they'll eventually issue a new currency, the Amero.
Just as occurred in Europe, they are pushing the unification process through, step by step, as a series of trade agreements. That way Congress doesn't have any part in the process at all.
This guy does a good job of explaining not only how the unification process is being pushed, but also how disinformation is used to manipulate peoples' opinions on the subject.
Grits are finely ground corn and when you boil them with water or milk, they become a mush fest. I am not a fan at all, but they're quite popular in the southern states. The only way I can eat them is if they're smothered in tons of cheese with some garlic. Then it's edible.
Sounds good to me! What about Mechanicado, then I could get Avocados from Mechanicado. the southern region. along with some Mexhamericandan wines. LOL.....this is probably the future if we all keep it together. And our currency could be..............????

Except for knowledge network and corner gas, canada has no tv programs. No way should be become one we are very different in many ways
Dragos1: What about Quebec? Does the rest of Canada seem to accept it in it's differences? I have not been there so I am somewhat at the mercy of hearsay.
Quebec is recognised and accepted of course as a distinct society. The French were a cofounder of our Country, we have two official languages, Quebec is Canada, so no worries.
An already sold-out country wants to have a final healthy bite??
How clever! Yet none of the 50 out of 70 USA Nobelists in economics seemed to have thought out s.th. meaningful, except perhaps for money making tricks. Is economics really a science?
