leahkathrine: real men like to go home and feed there children not die playing games but hey maybe i should look on the bright side a new man every other week
rugby is just an excuse for weenies to pretend they are macho men. Rugby players wouldnt last five minutes on a football field!
About three years ago, I read that a Rugby player's career duration is three to four years shorter than NFL players. Rugby: Last of the Gladiators. Tough sport indeed.

I,
I've been down on football with all the brain injury and Redskins - but stand at the sidelines next to the field of play- the sound of the collisons is so loud and violent it hurts your ears. Special teams-a loss of concentration can be fatal.

6 weeks is the average time before your regular NFL player breaks his collarbone in Rugby. Simply too soft. No conditioning.
I think they are just different sports and if the name was not common in them that this would not be a question. Like in Martial Arts I hear people argue that "Full Contact" and "No contact" being said in that one is more severe than the other. In fact they are not the same, and they teach and are performed in different ways.

There is an obvious difference in martial arts contact and non contact, but between Kung Fu and Karate, Rugby and American football, these are far closer in their play and outcome.

Of course we all have our own opinions. But I doubt you are likely of seeing the point I was making. (it was not directed towards you), merely a point of view.
