We all sit by the computer or phone waiting for that 1st mailbox message, well we know why we're here, so how long should we wait to see the person either via SKYPE or exchange numbers? It takes time to get to know them but a personal meeting is always the grand finale....

Demand it in the first mail. Saves beating about the bush
It's best to wait until you 'zing' before doing anything like that. Otherwise, you'll just end up with a phone full of numbers that you'll never end up calling.

If you feel you're connecting, preferably early on. Don't mistake it as chemistry though..wait for the meet. You would class something like a 30 minute coffee meet as the grand finale?? That isn't very ambitious. It'll have to be over and out after that, no getting married, becoming an official item etc or whatever your ultimate aim is. But in another sense, you've hit the hammer on the head as odds are, you'll never see them again

I say leave it to the people involved.
I've chatted with people in the past on some of these sites. It's been nice but usually so far away that number exchanges weren't necessary. We'd just set times for video chats here and there and kept it online as friends.
Naturally, other people may have better options and time so I just think it's better left up to them.

Does it matter. Who cares. . . Time space and distance have no rules. With some people you connect in one day, with others in three months, and with some you do not connect. . . . There are no rules, and people who are ascribing to the rules in this kind of matter are idiots . . .

I wish people would realise that, and the sooner the better.
Although, there have been a couple times I wish I would have given someone Interpol's number instead of my own.
