2intrigued: I can't pick just one because there are humourous shows and individuals in all those countries. I like the Japanese humour for their prank shows, our own Jim Carey or stand up comic Russel Peters, and many others.

mollybaby: My personal preference would be for British humour in films.
And Irish 'on the street' humour
I do have a certain affinity to Aussie humour too
What I like about Brit/Irish humour is it's ability to laugh at themselves, they don't take themselves too seriously in my view, where as it seems that American humour is more about laughing at others rather than themselves.

And before anyone jumps on me and says I'm American bashing, I'm not it's just my personal preference, I'm a big fan of most things American and American people especially.

It's much more fun taking the piss out of yourself, it keeps you grounded.
We are very cynical too, and anybody who appears to get too big for their boots gets taken down a peg or two. That is why all our actors, etc. are very normal. They would get destroyed if they put on any airs and graces!

And that's us in Australia as well, we have a thing could tall poppy syndrome here, where anyone who seems to get a big head or full of themselves gets shot down, it's all well and good to be successful just don't go blowing your own horn. Many of our pioneers were Irish (my ancestors included) maybe that's why we share similar characteristics.

It's very popular here. I suppose it's like neighbours and home and away being popular over there, but here many people cant stand that rubbish!
