Were there ever done any researches on this subject at all...would it be hard to accept fact that intelligence is extremelly relative metter despite modern scientific clasifications which seem to be all wrong at their analyses(math etc. testing).....

Einstein appeared smart to some because of his outstanding historically breaking reserches...to others again stupid as from what I understand was unable to even tie shoes on own...not to mention Yugoslaw feme who was driving him nuts....

Can we compare Bethowen, Mozart, or Einstein in intelligence...can it be done...why wasn't....I beleive it can be done...what you think...

I beleive further that almost 100% of people have same intelligence ability at birth and their final intelligence product over life time(life time is what I consider as an capacity/battery with which they develop their unique outstanding sharacteristics which messure or finally resolt in what is known as an intelligence...I would also add here individual responses during situations as required and certainly hardships endured) solely depends on environments in which they spend their lives.

Critical situations in which one finds himself/herself therefore determin enormously who is what is someone...wine

I agree that people are born with a certain degree of intelligence that they carry for the rest of their lives. I've heard so many theories on the measure of intelligence. Personally, I believe the best way to measure a person's intelligence is by their capacity to learn, reason and solve problems. But it's probably circumstantial, relative to that specific person.

The highest I've scored on an IQ test is 135. The lowest I've scored is 120. So it varies greatly depending on the test you take. But the "score" isn't the point of the test. You're taking a test that millions of other people have taken and told where you stand among those people.

There are different 'intelligences'. IQ is different to EQ for example. Below is one theory which I think gives credence to the belief that we are all individually gifted in our own ways;

The Nine Types of Intelligence
By Howard Gardner

1. Naturalist Intelligence (“Nature Smart”)

Designates the human ability to discriminate among living things (plants, animals) as well as sensitivity to other features of the natural world (clouds, rock configurations). This ability was clearly of value in our evolutionary past as hunters, gatherers, and farmers; it continues to be central in such roles as botanist or chef. It is also speculated that much of our consumer society exploits the naturalist intelligences, which can be mobilized in the discrimination among cars, sneakers, kinds of makeup, and the like.

2. Musical Intelligence (“Musical Smart”)

Musical intelligence is the capacity to discern pitch, rhythm, timbre, and tone. This intelligence enables us to recognize, create, reproduce, and reflect on music, as demonstrated by composers, conductors, musicians, vocalist, and sensitive listeners. Interestingly, there is often an affective connection between music and the emotions; and mathematical and musical intelligences may share common thinking processes. Young adults with this kind of intelligence are usually singing or drumming to themselves. They are usually quite aware of sounds others may miss.

3. Logical-Mathematical Intelligence (Number/Reasoning Smart)

Logical-mathematical intelligence is the ability to calculate, quantify, consider propositions and hypotheses, and carry out complete mathematical operations. It enables us to perceive relationships and connections and to use abstract, symbolic thought; sequential reasoning skills; and inductive and deductive thinking patterns. Logical intelligence is usually well developed in mathematicians, scientists, and detectives. Young adults with lots of logical intelligence are interested in patterns, categories, and relationships. They are drawn to arithmetic problems, strategy games and experiments.

4. Existential Intelligence

Sensitivity and capacity to tackle deep questions about human existence, such as the meaning of life, why do we die, and how did we get here.

5. Interpersonal Intelligence (People Smart”)

Interpersonal intelligence is the ability to understand and interact effectively with others. It involves effective verbal and nonverbal communication, the ability to note distinctions among others, sensitivity to the moods and temperaments of others, and the ability to entertain multiple perspectives. Teachers, social workers, actors, and politicians all exhibit interpersonal intelligence. Young adults with this kind of intelligence are leaders among their peers, are good at communicating, and seem to understand others’ feelings and motives.

6. Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence (“Body Smart”)

Bodily kinesthetic intelligence is the capacity to manipulate objects and use a variety of physical skills. This intelligence also involves a sense of timing and the perfection of skills through mind–body union. Athletes, dancers, surgeons, and craftspeople exhibit well-developed bodily kinesthetic intelligence.

7. Linguistic Intelligence (Word Smart)

Linguistic intelligence is the ability to think in words and to use language to express and appreciate complex meanings. Linguistic intelligence allows us to understand the order and meaning of words and to apply meta-linguistic skills to reflect on our use of language. Linguistic intelligence is the most widely shared human competence and is evident in poets, novelists, journalists, and effective public speakers. Young adults with this kind of intelligence enjoy writing, reading, telling stories or doing crossword puzzles.

8. Intra-personal Intelligence (Self Smart”)

Intra-personal intelligence is the capacity to understand oneself and one’s thoughts and feelings, and to use such knowledge in planning and directioning one’s life. Intra-personal intelligence involves not only an appreciation of the self, but also of the human condition. It is evident in psychologist, spiritual leaders, and philosophers. These young adults may be shy. They are very aware of their own feelings and are self-motivated.

9. Spatial Intelligence (“Picture Smart”)

Spatial intelligence is the ability to think in three dimensions. Core capacities include mental imagery, spatial reasoning, image manipulation, graphic and artistic skills, and an active imagination. Sailors, pilots, sculptors, painters, and architects all exhibit spatial intelligence. Young adults with this kind of intelligence may be fascinated with mazes or jigsaw puzzles, or spend free time drawing or daydreaming.

I have tested as high as 185 and as low as 130 with many results in between. I do not lay much credence to this sort of testing as it is impacted by environmental influences far too often.
Intelligence is much more abstract than even what is presented in these tests in my opinion, and there is no merit in dividing the intellect into accepted patterns.
I remember in school that these tests were mandatory and I am quite pleased that they have disappeared from the educational circuit as far as I can tell as my own children have not endured this segregational pigeon-holing.

Actual intelligence cannot be measured, everyone interprets things differently to analyse what they think, is being asked...

Though I have 140 IQ, and commonsense. I have found myself at times, befuddled by people who suck at math, reading, and they had no common sense.. Sometimes we as society think of very complex, and elaborate anwsers or solutions. Because we don't wish to think there can be a simple anwser or solution. Alot of it has to do with our own egos....JMO.

Here is why I gave my IQ. which an IQ test has little to do with intelligence... IQ has to do with how fast your minds thinks and anwsers correctly, according to man's interpretation of how fast it should work.. The test is made by man therefore not perfect...

For example If I got 99% of 100% right on a test and it took me 30mins. to take it....and there was one question, I just could not figure out, no matter how hard I thought I just couldn't figure it out.

Then my friend though it may have taken him twice as long to take the test and he only scored a 50%... But he figured out the right anwser to the question I couldn't.. Does that make me smarter than him, or him, smarter them me.....

Neither is the anwser I would give...cheers

Good thread though....

The best think to get you through life, is common sense. I beleive that is what GOD reffers to as wisdom...JMO

Equality is a political concept designed to foment rebellion by envious people against people who are definitely unequal to them.

We are not equal.

Some people are more athletic, or more intelligent, or wealthier, or better looking, or nicer or more humurous, or more creative, or more 'anything' than others - some even have a combination of qualities!

Very few people have zero qualities - so you might be dumb, but a very nice person..... or very good-looking and clever, but a complete a**hole!

We are not equal - thank God we are not all the same.

You'll get over it! grin

Thank you very much for your comment rusty knight. I found it very interesting. I agree with a lot what you have written including "thanks God we aren't the same".

IQ, school grades, academic achievement, common sense, criminal mind, fast talker, empathizer...

There is no one measure for a person's overall intelligence, so why bother?

The whole subject is just that...subjective.

As far as meeting someone, I would like to be able to communicate with them physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually on a level that doesn't even take into consideration intelligence.

I hear people say, "I only want to date an intelligent person". What if the love of your life has everything you want, but has an IQ of 85? Maybe more of an open-minded approach would broaden your scope towards fulfilling any life goal.

Personally, my brain is half gone because of the bipolar disease, the dozens of chemical-altering medications I have been on and the weight of a sub-par life dragging me down day in and day out. I hope I am not judged by my intelligence by a potential partner, or I will have no chance...laugh

There's book intelligence, and then there's emotional intelligence. Some people have 20 university degrees, but have the emotions of an 8 year old,and get upset and have tantrums about stupid things, like a little stain on their shirt.
