A nice loving walk along the beach hand in hand, playing, laughing, loving.. then stop for fish and chips.. Then back home for a long warm soak in the tub before bed
Almost all of the above except dinner at home and movie. Safer to stay in the public arena for the first two or three dates. First one anyway. None of them would work if you don't get along of course! But some might be easier to cope with any awkward silences, like a museum trip maybe. Busy yourself with the art!

I like the idea of a picnic in the park, on a nice warm day, but only if i felt comfortable with the date, which i would know from chatting for a while before.

Lovely first date without the shared tub, maybe leave that for a future date
minnieme2: Plus dinner at home and movie might give the impression of being a cheapskate as well!
Not always. I live for cooking for the person I am dating and I can assure, what i come up with aint cheap...lol. You can be assured of getting a very good meal.
I want to do something active for a first date to break the tension. It could be something as little as putt putt or whatever hobby the two of you might have in common...hiking?
For me, I don't like eating in front of someone on a first date.

Anywhere away from the hustle bustle.....a walk, whether that's the beach or native forest track...maybe I'd pack a picnic for us, he bring the refreshments.
If we'd met online, I'd assume we'd already done the coffee meet thingee, so a first date would be moving along a little further.
However the mood strikes us, as to what the outcome is, for the evening of first date. Just go with the flow...take things naturally
