I'm a country music fan. More specifically I am a female country music fan. I have probably two hundred CD's on my IPod and 190 of them are female country singers.

I like male country singers, but my favorites are Toby Keith, Tracy Byrd, Alan Jackson, Tracey Lawrence. I got everything tracy Byrd ever recorded.

Good luck and I hope you make it. I love to listen to many types of music, but I only buy country mostly....
My tastes are way too eclectic to have a favorite genre. I listen to a station that plays music from the 60's through to today, and you never know what they'll play next. I've heard "Rock Lobster" followed by "Natural Woman" (that combo stays with me since it was the first time I listened, and it made me stay with it). So, I chose "whatever's on the radio". I can tell you that there are a few on your list that are my least faves, like rap, soul and R&B.

Good luck. I won't hear you, but I still wish you the best.

I listen to all of these singers that you listed. Toby Keith performed at the Beau Rivage Casino here last night. He puts on a great show. He is a performer and not just a singer.
pretzelman: Why in these polls do people leave off folk music????
I love listening to American and Canadian folk music
They leave off a lot of music, Pretzie. A lot. I listen to a very wide variety, and the only one who ever put quite a bit of that variety on a list was Tipaly a few months ago, and she did it over three threads. Actually, she covered genres I didn't even know existed.
Will certainly wish you all the best on your venture Big_John:. Be warned not easy, but depends on what side of the fence your on. Now things are slowly changing with artists moving toward the internet for promotion, and many become very successful. The days of me being under label where different, but the power is shifting now which is good.

I left off alot of music because it only gives you 10 answers.....so I put the most populsr genres

I am not going into a venture. You confused me with JOhnDoeHartness.....

Ah...that explains why it took Tip 3 threads to cover so many types. No problem...I wondered if there was a limit. I've never started a poll before.
I also tend to listen to World Reggae/Indie music, nature sounds with instrumental accompaniment, celtic music...if it's got a good beat, or is good for meditating and sounds beautiful, I love it.
Jan1305: I think real music lovers listen to a wide variety of music. I know I do, and country music, which I loathed when I was younger, I can appreciate now.
My favourite though, has to be soul, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, and I adore old Motown.
I´m actually listening to Van Morrisson now, another favourite.
Oh...if that's soul, then I do like it a lot. Just thought of them as classic good stuff. Scratch that one off of my "don't like much" list.
I do, btw, like some hip hop and "funk"...and the old disco, too. Again, good beats. I just love to dance, and love anything that makes it so I can't stay seated. (My sons aren't appreciating this in places like Wal*Mart or at their basketball games since becoming teens, though. )
