velvetUG: IF it brought back the victim and stopped the autocratic sadness that often victims loved ones feel, then yes i would be for it

quite often those left behind feel deep emptyness in regards to the perpretator being executed

it is a continuation of a vicious cycle.

and no revenge should never be the motive that kind of sentence.

Excellent points, but none that I care about. I just want the dude dead. Period.

I have had no problem with revenge for the murder of a loved one.... even years after the person was executed.

Zeelander: This is where a law need to be passed that if a person is wrongly put to death then their defense lawyer will be put to death for not performing to the standards needed to get their client acquitted.

velvetUG: whoa!!! there have been thousands of people who were wrongly convicted and executed for crimes they didnt commmit in the USA, and DNA testing has proven it after execution

shock All I heard from Wikipedia is that the Death Penalty Information Center has published a list of 8 inmates "executed but possibly innocent", but none of them has yet had his innocence recognized by any court. conversing This doesn't mean that they were innocent but that there is only a possibility that they were, and this needs to be confirmed by the courts.

Also, even though the DNA evidence has released around 15 death row inmates, it has not proved that even one was executed conversing And since the DNA evidence is available in only a fraction of capital cases, how could it prove that thousands of wrongly convicted were exectuted?

Like I've said before and I'll say it again that if it's a case of someone raping/killing women and children yes I believe in the death penalty.

Providing that said person was 100% without a doubt guilty. And especially if that person is caught in the act of doing that particular crime cause then there's no doubt that he did it.

I'm smart enough to realize that DNA testing can sometimes be wrong and the wrong person have been convicted of the crime.I'm also smart enough to realize that putting someone to death will not bring someone loved one back but...it's obvious to me that once the person(s) are found 100% guilty of a crime and put to death that they won't be committing anymore of those kinds of crimes.

No, I wasn't joking, there is no evidence that has been recognized by the courts of a single execution of a wrongfully accused conversing lots of people claim to have evidence though, they just need to go to court and prove it.

I see two, but were they innocent.... truly innocent? Were they involved?

Why is it that those that live in a penal colony want all criminals released?

I have to admit I thought that your argument that an infallible system exists was a troll. Now that I realize that's not the case, I'm not quite sure what to say.

There are prisoners who have been exonerated, which basically makes your argument that the courts can make mistakes only until the sentance is carried out.

Actually no it doesn't. In the united states, cases are reopened all the time for people who would still be dead for 50 years if they were allowed to live their full life.

I didn't say the court didn't make mistakes in conviction, which has been proven conversing But what has not been proven is that a wrongfully accused has been executed.

I actually believe in the death penalty and I'm not even a republican laugh

Maybe if there was truth in sentencing, I could live with life sentences, but because there is no truth in sentencing, I cannot justify seing a proven murderer being let out after 10 years or less because some "expert" says he/she is fit to reenter socity or because the jails are full and the communities can't/won't spend the money for new ones or invest in proper mental health institutions. Too many reoffenders, esp. among the p*dophile who, as we know, cannot be treated or cured. Too few facilities to treat criminals, too little pay for social workers, etc.

I'm not buying the argument that the death penalty doesn't act as a deterrent and I don't buy the argument that society has no right to act in retribution/revenge. I think it does act as a deterrent and that there is absolutely nothing wrong in society exercising "revenge." Society also has the duty to protect those who have not yet fallen victim to violent crime.

Even if they were alive they still will find it be hard for them to contest conversing Only additional evidence or testamony from someone else will the courts listen too.

That's fine, as long as we can agree that:

1. A court rules on its findings, and may or may not coresspond with what actually happened.

2. That the fact that none have been proven does not rule them out.
