Christians believe the death of Jesus was part of a divine plan to save humanity . Didn't work did it, have you seen the state of the world, what a bleeding mess we have made of it. Christians killing in the name of God, what's that all about. So called Christians believing in the death penalty. The value of human life has been forgotten.

Then again let somebody kill someone that I love.....

I guess what I feel is when my heart tells me its wrong one way and then its right the other go figure

When it comes down to God and the death penalty, all I can say is God uses people to get things done.

I have a problem with most religions, you don't have to be religolous to be a good person or to have standards of life.

George625: strongly against it, too many mistakes in legal process... on the other hand I believe prison time should be much harder time, especially for crimes which involve violence, not mini holidays. The French and Russians had the right idea with penal camps and gulags... and life sentences should mean life sentences.

What kind of god is that who kills his own son? No wonder so many Christians think that you bring live by killing. Maybe that teaching needs a couple of amendments.

God didn't kill his son-we did! God rose him up 3 days later. Like the last chick said-this forum is about the death penalty. Maybe you should read the bible before committing further about what Christians believe because you obviously don't know.

mnowsa: With all due respect, even if i agree with you just for the sake of debate, i just don't the way you are opting to celebrate a "killing". And this kind of mentality of yours towards a human life ( or should i say death?) scares me more than the death/killing itself. this kind of attitude shows that killing is absolutely ok and a normal thing in a society if one chooses to celebrate it. please try to understand that if, god forbid, a very loved one of yours is sentenced to death and the family of victims is celebrating his/her death right in front of you or around you. Please try to act or sound sober when talking about death.

With all due respect to you also If these people who without thought or concience take a life so effortlessly knew the ramifications of their actions WILL result in their CERTAIN death then you can bet the numbers of crimes would drop !
Innocent lives spared . childrens futures assured
These animals do this because they know even if they get caught they do less time than if they stole a car !
we teach our children about conciquences for our actions yet our laws show offenders Its really not so bad !!
Punishments should fit the crimes !!!

i'm not sure if i believe in the death penalty, however, crimes against children especially are sickening, and death penalty or not, there should be severe repercussions for them.

shootingstar77: So I am compared to a viking or an extermist , well let me say, I am darn proud you compared me to that.

I did in fact do that...conversing Sorry, what I meant is that way of thinking around the responsibility of effects of taking someone life is the same.

I do not wish you to be compared to extremists, I suppose you have an ordinary life like most of us.

The note was to show you what I worry about, that if we easily hand over the judging to some kind of afterlife judge, we are suddenly in a position to do whatever we like without showing neither mercy nor respect to anyone around us.

Because that is what they do and they say that all will be sorted in the after life. That is scary.

Sorry for making things sound like an accusation, not meant to be.
