mike69spain: I did in fact do that... Sorry, what I meant is that way of thinking around the responsibility of effects of taking someone life is the same.

I do not wish you to be compared to extremists, I suppose you have an ordinary life like most of us.

The note was to show you what I worry about, that if we easily hand over the judging to some kind of afterlife judge, we are suddenly in a position to do whatever we like without showing neither mercy nor respect to anyone around us.

Because that is what they do and they say that all will be sorted in the after life. That is scary.

Sorry for making things sound like an accusation, not meant to be.

I appreciate your desire to explain your standpoint.

I am not offended, as I can understand your own viewpoints.

I have followed this read and do realize that none of us are doing much to change the system, by sitting here and voicing our opinions.

All I can say about this thread, is that we have a responsbibilty to the innocent in our land. We have the responsibilty that God has entrusted to us all to protect our children, our loved ones, for those who have no regard for human life.

I personally do bot believe are responsibilty should lie in allowing those who have shed innocent blood, to be allowed to use the Justice system and our own money, to protect their own life.

Justice should be served swiftly, for those who without any shadow of doubt, murdered. We are sending the wrong message to society, by allowing them time and money to justify their own most heinious crimes.

I would say to anyone, who has an issue with the death penalty, go talk to the survivors of those who lost loved ones to violence.

You will understand then, moreso, the heartache, the lack of their own rights being protected , while they wait around years and years to see Justice served. Innocent families have to relive the horror of the murder of their loved over and over again, to protect the rights of the one who killed them. Is that Justice?

I know there is arguments, and some are valid, some are not, especially the ones about God killing his son, how very sad that is to read that people have that mentaility. It is just a lack of knowledge, when people perish, in our Justice System and many other belief systems that are designed, to protect, love and withhold moral standards, that we as a society are falling away from, due to our lack of willingness to want to reap what we sow in life.

The God I believe in is not only a very loving God, but a God that hates the shedding of innocent blood and makes no bones about what he thinks of evil. Again, Evil can only prevail , when good men choice to do nothing.

bestat45: i'm not sure if i believe in the death penalty, however, crimes against children especially are sickening, and death penalty or not, there should be severe repercussions for them.

These animals do this because they know even if they get caught they do less time than if they stole a car !
we teach our children about conciquences for our actions yet our laws show offenders Its really not so bad !!
Punishments should fit the crimes !!!

this i agree with...........much much tougher sentencing needed...unfortunately, justices who sit on the bench are usuall in on this stuff, or are 'high standing citizens' as witnessed in 'the family' murders in south australia, where it even went up to the premier of the state (he wasnt involved but probably knew the perpretrators).....

absolutely shamefull stuffsigh

you cannot take the high stand and pertain to know what victims families want. some want the death penalty, some dont.....

thewre was a doco here recently, of a man whos son was gunned down in a bungled robbery.

the father formed a victims of crime group, and lobbied for the death penalty.
then something miraculous happened. he and his wife were able to meet with the perpretators in jail, and many many tears were shed by both sides.

one of the perps was recently released. his family had disowned him over what he had done. guess who was standing at the gate waiting to take him home????

the victims father

he has also told of how a great pain had been lifted in forgiveness.

and now the father is helping that perp get on with his life by finding him work and getting him rehablitated.

whilst this is an exceptional circumstance, and for child killers and rapists, yes i agree they cannot be rehabilitated, and quite often justify their crimes because they are sick, this man in some states of the US would have been put to death, and no good would have come from this

I guess then you have to ask the victims family....

Do they want the death penalty or to they want to pay for his incarceration themselves?

I think they should make a Sims game called death row.

The way it works is that you have to house, feed, wash, work out in the yard.... ect.

If the player forgets too feed the inmate he goes without food.... Ya make it so boring that the player just plain forgets to play and the Death Row inmate dies from neglect.

Sounds like a money maker to me.

I believe in God, the tooth fairy and Santa Clause. Do not rain on my parade. I have to much fun.

I do agree with you though, they are living in there own hell , they created themselves, whether it is in a prison cell, or out in society. For really, as much as I am for the death penalty, I do feel very sad, for those who can take a human life.

I understand a lot of people have a problem with the death penalty... I am not one of them. I am not cruel or inhumane, but I would also not have a problem being the one enforcing the justice. I would be more than willing to pull the lever leading to a short drop and a quick stop; Flipping the switch; or pulling the trigger.

But that's just me.

Zeelander: In what way is a lethal injection inhumane? The first drug given puts the person to sleep the same way a person receiving an operation in a hospital is put to sleep. The next drug stops the heart.

I read a article within the last year and cannot recall all the details, but it had to do with the drug that was being administred and the side effects it had , until death came.

Do a search, I am sure you will find it, as for me, this is just too heavy and it is to beautiful of a day to be sad or frustrated.

In fact, I had to go do some work outside after this thread, to work out my frustration and it was really sweet, as I found underneath a bush , a plate with a smiley face on , that I never saw and have no idea how it got there.

the families are interested in revenge...that is not the role of the State. fighting is one thing...killing your prisoners is another.
