IF I were dating...I would not date teeth. I would be dating the being inside their minds. I will refuse to be intimate with someone who has a foul tasting mouth, tho. I am not talking about they ate something and their breath stinks. I am talking rotten, dying tissue, foul taste. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, ew, ew, ew. Narsty! Been there, done that. It is a sign they are killing themselves healthwise. Me no touchy again.
Also, too many people I know have lost their teeth due to drugs. I am not talking street drugs, people. Innocent people who go to drs and trust them. They have been fed a variety of drugs by men and women they trusted as their caretakers (Doctors)that destroyed their teeth and gums. These innocent people's only 'sin' was having faith in their primary care physicians and being innocent and naive. And then most doctors are not educated to understand all the severe side effects drugs have on the human body. Nor are they trained to teach people healthy practices.
So in these days of rampant drug prescriptions for EVERY damn thing, there are a lot more very good people with tooth and gum loss. Actually they have other symptoms of poisoning as well but this is not the thread for it.

langleygirl: Or if they suffered an illnes and the medication as a child and it caused damage to their adult teeth? This instance actually happened to my mother as a infant. The pencillin saved her life but the amount that they gave her caused damage to her adult teeth and she ended up with dentures as a result.
To assume that damage to teeth is simply caused by neglect is sometimes unfounded - there are many circumstances wherein people loose teeth.
I can second that as I have had the same thing happen to me. I was seriously ill as a young child. I needed to have an operation but the surgeon suggested that I did not have it immediately as the chances of surviving it at my then age were slim, and would be better if I was a year or two older before going under the knife.
That meant I had to take medications for the next two years, and they affected my adult teeth when these sprang up. They've never been white, but rather a stained yellowish colour. I know that it's one of my physical defects, and why for many years (especially during my teens) I avoided smiling and laughing out loud.
Sure, people who don't know me will automatically assume I don't brush my teeth (I do brush them twice a day regularly mind), and has put off certain women from dating me, but it's something I've learned to live with.
langleygirl: so if someone had been beaten and lost all their teeth would that make them a bad person and not dateable? Or if they are a child and get thrown off their bike, or if they are in a car accident and loose teeth because of the damage at the point of impact?

but others might be not that lucky however I could reject them because of their teeth???
As I always say , It's a matter of personal choice not personality although that goes along with the package also . It's totally your decision as to what you desire in a partner.

of course Desertguy, you're kinda right but certainly, if you would hit on a lovely woman, which would have everything you desire, except of her own teeth I'm sure, you wouldn't bother about
only if you're really such a superfical A.. ..e <-that's for a word I wont say
but then anyway, you wont be worth it to get loved by her
