When i joined this site first, i was really surprised when i saw alot of old men and women still looking for dating or longterm...

Absolutely. I know people that date in their 80s so age is no a factor, but loneliness certainly is.

Many older people still desire companionship and love ... and a few I've seen fall in love and get married even in their eighties.
If your mom wants to date and possibility consider getting married down the road - why not? She's still a young woman considering that most people these days live well into their eighties and nineties. Why should she spend the rest of her life alone if she does desire companionship and love with a partner?
And what else are people supposed to do - just lay in their coffin and wait for their end to come?
"50" might seem like a big deal to you now, but it's actually just a number, as any other ages. When I was in the 1st grade, I looked up at boys and girls from the 4th grade and thought they were so "grown-up"...

No offence taken, in fact I'm still laughing, at 50 I became the proud father of my daughter now aged 4, In the last 2 1/2 years I have travelled to many parts of the world, now at nearly 55 years I intend to settle down with a new love, to start a new phase in my life. Believe me, each decade (10 years) is a new beginning.
When my father passed away it took her quite sometime to get over his death. She was sad all time wouldn't leave the house. She spent all her time just sitting in their darkened bedroom and refused to let anyone in.It hurt me to see her acting this way.
One day one of her real close friends came over and talked my mother into going out to dinner and then they both went out to a American Legion to a dance.During the whole time at the club she met my stepdad and they danced and talked all the time they were there. My mother had the biggest smile on her face when she returned home that particular evening which I hadn't seen on her in quite sometime. My stepdad and my mom began dating a short time later. It made my heart feel good to know that my mother wouldn't be alone anymore cause she had someone in her life again. My mother was in her 70s and my stepdad was in his 80s when they got married.
Just because a person ages doesn't mean they don't have a pulse..Feeling love doesn't all of a sudden stop when a person gets older.

I agree with the other posts. Did you talk to your mother? Did you tell her you would like to see her happy? May be she was afraid to hurt you (and your brothers/sisters) if she was dating another man. It happens that children are mad and don't want a stepfather to take their father's place.
snowbunnie4U: AMEN TO THAT! I have listened to a now 70 some year old man say that he thought at age 60 "he was just getting started"....That is the philosophy I want to keep with me. Love at any age makes you believe in possilibites in life...Y not pretend you are starting out in life instead of ending up...

You're right this is life love is given to all creature on earth.
Finding just one person to love forever is the dream of the majority of us. As you are learning Moon, that is a very rare thing to find. The divorce rate has doubled here in the UK over the past 30 years so there are many more of us now out there trying to find it again.

In my country is like that too.It really rare that someone will search another partner in that age.Mostly they are doing that because of the children.I dont think thats right because we need love, friend, companion at every age and children will grow up and have their own families so its not good for anyone to be alone.
