Native1Queen: I just wondered how many people send emails, then conect then take the next step. Does a connection really happen over the net?
About three if they are close enough to meet you in person. A couple phone calls and then, if all goes well, meet in person. Whole safety protocol for first meeting

Connection on the net? I sure hope so! good luck!
Protocol.... you do know that I am a serial killer....

Depends on what you consider the next step! I'd wait for at least 2 e-mails, a flower, 1 e-card and before you hand over your msn, and even that doesn't mean it will ends up a huge mistake! (see my blog re bad local connection!)
Sorry guys...feeling very bitter, twisted & pessimistic today!
A half dozen decent e-mails and then the "dreaded" phone call... really, i hate having to rely on just one of the five senses to make what is essentially the "first meet"...(sight and smell being the other practicals, in case your thinking i move a bit to quickly!) great on the "face offs", no confidance issues... so, 3 steps...e-mail/msn(yahoo, whatever)...phone...visual... re connection...not till a couple of meets...if you get no reply after first meet to sent mails consider it off... i personally would not hassle a woman with phone calls if mails were not replied to post meet... others may dissagree... Lard...

its funny i was on here the other day, chatting with all my friends then i went out my front door for fresh air, and a woman i had met a month ago just was walking by, and i got her phone number, so you never know

I know what you mean. It's always easier in real life dating. You both know what you are getting into immediately, from the physically attractiveness aspect at least, and of course the little you may have gleaned from a few hours chatting with music blaring in the background.
Give me real life dating any day. I know where I am immediately, whether that works out in the long term is a different story, but it's a more honest and open scenario imo.
Weeellll, we emailed for four weeks, spoke on the phone many times,......as i had the car, i travelled down to wellington to met him, which i did and then, i bailed as soon as i could. He wasn't anything like his photo, and weeeellll..nowthing like he came across be email or phone. Can't believe that all you guys out there are dishonest....so i am still here.

I can't agree. I think the regular dating scene can be far more phoney. I think people are more guarded in what they reveal to the other. Online, you have many opportunities to see how a person thinks through their posts in Forums etc. You get incite into what a person is like even without direct contact. Then, if you want to have some private talk you can. What happens next is up to both of you. If you meet and things don't go well, so be it. It was just another trial run.

Me and lovingheart2 sent 49 yes 49 emails between us the very first day we met. Of course by that night we were talking on the phone. 30 something emails + phone calls all day we took the next step. Now we share all our time on skype and my passport should be here any time now.

trulee01: Or maybe the song.
I have not met anyone from this site. I much prefer exchanging silly emails amongst people from the forums and being casual about it. I would not say never but I do have a cynical attitude towards dating sites and the possibilities of anything progressing further than just friendship.
