If I know the person is intelligent, has good grammer skills and can spell well then yes as I would interpret it as a lack of seriousness.

Dyslexic people are very often extremely intelligent.

Would you be turned off by somebody who couldn't draw?

If you can communicate to a satisfactory level, there shouldn't be a problem.

If you can't communicate with someone, then it ain't happening.

2intrigued: I agree however, those who do speak fluent english and claim to have a PhD but can't write a readable profile is indeed a turn off to me.

LOL

they have a PhD but they are a construction laborer! so good grammer and good spelling skills are not part of the deal

Since this is an international forum, it is most definitely understandable if someone's spelling is a bit off. I would NOT hold that against a person and it may be wrong for me to say this but many Americans only speak english, many of us are too lazy to learn another country's language, so therefore, I applaud all of you who are from a different country with a different language other than english because you are able to communicate and get your point across on an international forum.

I doff my hat to you!

I've lost count of how many guys have messaged me with spelling as bad as a 5 year old, but their profile says they are a "engineer" or in some other big profession?? Makes me think either they are lying or used cheat sheats in college.

Ditto, Bella! wine

I too admire all these multilingual forumers for their intellect and courage. thumbs up

Makes me cringe when one poor sod or another, who in fact barely writes in their own language, happily jumps at every opportunity to put them down by commenting "now say it in English"/"I don't speak gibberish..."/etc.

They are lying like the GYologist with a Masters degree but does not know how to correctly spell the word Geologist, who contacted me from somewhere in Europe one day and started living in Toronto, Canada overnight!

Most good Science textbooks are in English. I knew this when I lived in Germany. The college kids there used to tell me all the time and someone with such an Advanced degree, you are bound to have a good knowledge of English. Anyway he is also a car dealer so maybe he is more into car dealing than Geology,

I agree. We take the trouble to dress appropriately to put up a good show, so why can't we use the spell check?

I crossed swords with someone who claimed and still does, that he is a professor or something in communication. He had the gall to ask why people do not respond to his mail and then took exception to being rapped on his multiple spelling mistakes. Go figure!dunno

Simply put, yes.
Although I will not hold it against one if occasionally a word is misspelled.
If it is blatant ignorance, then I do apologize for my waning interest, though I must admit your inability to articulate your thoughts in a written manner have lost me.
