Online dating has its moments for some but most folks are addicted to the search online,hoping to find a person that fits the criteria of what we think we want in a partner, truth is that when we develope feelings for someone they are usually the total opposite of what we thought we were looking for,hence the saying...he or she is not what i normally go for..

I'm here for the forums to pass a bit of time and haven't used online dating before.
I do have a few friends both male and female who do though and they've had some really bad times with it.
So far the most concerning and most common thing seems to be that the people they meet have pretty much all been nightly heavy drinkers which leads to allsorts of communication problems for a start.
When talking online this isn't necessarily apparent and can be difficult to identify in a person.
I've heard a lot of other stories as well and admittedly it does deter me from going down the online dating route. I think I would stick to real life as and when I'm ready to date again.

I was debating between scammers and lies, distance for me is not an issue, I can relocate or meet someone in another country. In the 80s and 90s I dated locals only, that didn't get me anywhere.

1. Just because I said something that doesn't mean it proof of anything.
2. I don't have a problem with distance, but it's the issue that I encounter most often from the other side.

I feel that the more I meet potential partners the more I'm getting pickier and pickier. It's not that I'm not dating, because I am. It's just that after spending a little while with them, I start yearning for my freedom again.
Last April I met this woman while going out with my sisters and friends, we dated for a couple of months and I found her too clingy, moving too fast (she started treating me like a husband instead of a boyfriend) and just suffocating. she's still crazy about me, even after I told her that things wouldn't work between us and knowing I was dating others...
Maybe I'm meant to remain single until my old age. Maybe I have trust issues and maybe I've learn hard lessons only too well...
I'm afraid it would take someone pretty extraordinary to shake me into the 'love' mode again, I don't know...
