actually, I've to admit, my dog is not really "well-behaved" quite cheeky and spoiled blushing
but nevertheless, she's a loveable one, never bad

once an ex only did lift his hand for to beat her very mad
she never ever will get beaten, of nobody very mad

I have been there and did see it, so he didn't...
but how far can I trust him, not to beat her when I'm just out in another room maybe? dunno

alarm bells went on, if you can understand what I mean?

smoothing talk like "I accept your dog, as it's yours" just blah blah blah

so simply said, someone who does not love animals, just cannot be someone for me, dot!

But would you also accept a monkey dancing around in the house? I'm serious asking now, because I've seen that also, in Kenya. I ask, because if we Westerns talk about "pets", we usually think about doggies and cats.

My last partner actually did say that, he wanted me to put my 2 little dogs in the rescue kennels simply because he didn't like little dogs. I ignored him of course and he got used to them. Now when he visits me, the dogs are jumping all over him, he makes such a fuss of them, giving them treats etc. and every time I speak to him on the phone he asks how they are.

well, it's a good question
as I think, dogs, cats, etc by the evolution, breedings they got pets
not that sure about monkeys dunno
I also love birds, but I cannot see them living only in a small cage, where they cannot really fly, it's just against their nature
even the same with cats, once I had two Persian cats, which might be "house cats" but I just couldn't confine them in the house as they are cats and want out and you will never get rid of these naturally drive of them by any breed of them
to force them to stay in the house all the time, to me that's cruel dunno

so I don't know, may those monkeys life free in the house, may they go out? jumping around in the trees?
or are they getting caught in a cage the most of the time? dunno

I wouldn't like to have a monkey, as sweet as they are
but could I give them what they really need? don't think so sad flower

That's exactly what I ment, not all animals are made by nature to be "pets", and if someone really loves animals, he must respect this fact. I not only felt sorry about birds, but also about some other "pets" I've seen. And one last thing I would like to mention: Dogs have an extreme sense to know if you really love theme or not. And if you really love theme, you never have to pretend, or even to fear. This is my multiple experience I had, even with "wild" dogs".

I have to say I'm sorry about the lamb remark, I did not realize it was a joke. Sorry, to the guy from Greece. frustrated

I do agree that there are some pets not made to be in a apt, like monkey's. I guess it depends on the training if any.

lion131: if you had a much loved pet/pets,and you had met somebody, and it was getting serious between you, what would you do if your lover/partner objected strongly to the pet,and issued you with an ultimatum?you know what i mean..."the animal goes or i do!"what would you do?
I would tell him, "You know where the door is. Goodbye." I HAVE done this and would do so again. If we reached a compromise about what rooms the pets were or were not permitted in, then that would be acceptable. My Furbabies are a package deal. Love me, Love my Babies. Period.hug

A person should never have to choose like that.A pet is part of a person's family.Ask yourself what will they try to change next?doh
