I just don't think it's reasonable to expect someone to look good or take care of themselves physically after their mid-forties.
Just my .666 worth...
A note about 25 year olds and intelligence...I can think of at least one 25 year old lady here who would shame most people in terms of intelligence, grace, and even maturity...a highly unique individual she is, however...

Fifty seven this year, own teeth, hair gone grey but still there. Body in great shape, still rock climb to a faily high standard, off road mountain bike, ski, hill walking on a regular basis and long may it continue.
Hair falls out and turns grey, eyes are fading, muscle tone is fading...its part of life. If I had a few thousand dollars, with a little plastic and duct tape, and 4-8 hours a day to work out, than maybe I could put things back together but who has the time or money....
I better shut up now....good luck with your fantasy quest...
I agree totally, i know many people my age and older who are still extremely fit and agile. Its a life style thing. I get fed up reading peoples comments suggesting once you hit forty something, thats it, past it, put on your slippers and let the young bucks get on with it. If you think your past it at forty five, well you probably are and more than likely its your own fault. JMO

So if men aren't past it at 45+, then why do so many men consider women over 45 past it?? Too many men behave as though we should be put out to pasture.....

Brede Arkless, nee Boyle (10 August 1939–18 March 2006), was a leading female climber and mountaineer, and was actively involved in the all-women's climbing movement. She was born in Manchester, England, of Dublin parents. In 1964 she married fellow mountaineer Geoff Arkless, and together they started a mountain school in Wales. She made several all-women trips to the greater ranges, while still being able to rear eight children. She also organised women-only climbing courses, together with the noted climber and feminist Jill Lawrence. She was only the second woman to qualify, in the 1960s, as a British Mountain Guide, and was the first woman to qualify for admission to the International Mountain Guides' Association, UIAGM. Increasingly involved in all-women climbing and guiding, she eventually separated from her husband, moved to New Zealand in 1990 and became a New Zealand citizen in 1995. While in her fifties she guided a total of 22 ascents of Aoraki/Mount Cook.
In 1998, an expedition party of five including a 59-year-old Arkless succeeded in crossing the Garhwal region of the Indian Himalaya between the Hindu temples of Badrinath and Kedarnath, a feat that had only been accomplished once before, in 1934. In 2000 Arkless tried to become the oldest woman to ascend Mount Everest but failed when she had to abandon her attempt at 8,500 m (28,000 ft) due to severe altitude sickness. The experience left her disillusioned: "Everest is full of non-climbers and rich people. Everest is all about summit fever and people who shouldn't be where they are. One guy said 'How many 8000m peaks have you climbed?' When I said 'One', he turned away."
Arkless died of pancreatic cancer, aged 66. After being diagnosed Arkless rode her bicycle more than 150 miles over high mountain passes from her home to a hospital in Christchurch for exploratory surgery, which revealed that her illness was inoperable.
Your right Alison...some women are never put out to pasture.

66 is a very young age to die these days. Just goes to show you that no mater how fit you appear, something is going to take you anyway. Who knows, maybe if she sat at home she might have lived to be 99 like my granny, who never climbed a hill in her life, but who was a delight to all who knew her.....

Brede and sitting at home would have been a cotradiction in terms. I had the pleasure of her company many years ago, she was a wonderful woman and an inspiration to many.
Anyway, i think your missing the point of my post.
It's all in your mind, Bowie - merely a cheery self-delusion.
I know, because I'm living the same illusion.
Sorry my friend, I am not living an illusion. I have 4 % body fat, I walk 4-5 miles a day, I skydive all weekend, which takes a lot out of you, physically and mentally. I eat wisely. I groom daily. I take care of myself. I am sorry you are done at 45.
Ha, maybe we could have a couple of beers and chat about it. Luckily, it won't show on me.
Hi Sharon, I don't think woman are over it at 45. I love you all

I'm not worried about handsome... just someone who I find attractive that can enjoy the life style that I enjoy. I manage a jazz club and restaurant, I finish work about 3am and then enjoy a bit of clubbing and dancing or sitting on a terrace with some friends enjoying a good conversation and a nice glass of wine... I walk home as the sunrises over the ocean and usually get to bed between 6am and 7am. I wake around noon, get a few things done around the house and head for the beach or a cafe to meet up with friends. i enjoy being very social and like a partner who can keep up with me, so 35, 45, 55... doesn't really matter.
The attraction is his smile, the naughty gleam in his eye, the way he handles himself socially and the fact that he finds me irresistible. That's all I'm looking for...
