Actractorguy: Exactly the only way to control the public school environment to allow for this kid to attend is place everyone in a hazmat suit. To do any less invites possible exposure.
Hey bud--they would all look like Darth Vader's storm troopers, or the worm hole cleaners from "Dune". Or just put all of them on ritalin or prozac. (I'm being facetious, because others on here were being facetious. Of course I don't think this would be an answer! For the life of me I can't see how people can't understand what some of us are trying to say. The guy who said "shall we outlaw cars because there are car accidents" said it best. Have some of you lost all sense of what freedom truly means? If we do all the things that some have suggested, the society we fought so hard to live peacefully in would become so wrought with parameters, it would be dismal. Don't you see that?)

rohaan: 1. Is a society truly free if kids' lunch bags are searched for contraband peanut butter? 2. Peanuts and/or direct peanut products are found in the following:

cooking oil, lubricating oil, paste, glue, tape, paints, crayons, lotions, medications, prepared meal kits, shoe polish, and clothing, to name a few. I asked a very good friend of mine over the weekend about this. She is a retired pediatrician and worked many many years unselfishly to promote health for (mostly) disadvantaged kids. She smiled as I told her about my club and our conversations about this issue. "I only have one question", she said. "Could the school community take this step for ALL food allergies for EVERY student who had one"? Smart question, and reasonably, the answer is "no".

I guess it depends on the culture that you live in. Round here and probably in a fair amount of the UK, parents will ask the school rather nicely, the school will ask the other parents rather nicely and the parents might grumble a little about change, (the Brits don't take to change easily), but will kinda say, "Ok then, I can do that."

If we queue politely are we a truly free society, if we give way when driving to let someone out of a junction, if we are expected to have any convention, or considereation for anyone else, are we a truly free society?

Hi Jac.

It really does matter wither you ask nicely vs forcing something. In this case the Parent is forcing it on everyone. They didn't come to the school and ask the real questions on how much this would effect the staff teachers and most of all the student's. That is what I heard on the radio about this a week or so ago.

Americans are even worse at change than the UK. It has to be almost forced on us otherwise it ain't gonna happen.

If we ask or yield freely then I would consider us a truly free people. But also look at laws. Laws are forced moral and societal needs. So no one is truly free unless you live in a bubble or as a hermit on some isolated Island where no one knows you are there.

puppypower: actually its designed to kill whoever it happens to be pointed at.

the gun dosent think and it has no imput into how it is used ...its a simple mechanical device using an chemical reaction to achive an outcome based on the laws of physics.

to blame the gun for anything is kind of pointless.pp
VERY well put.Plain and simple. When a peanut goes beserk and kills a bunch of people, the anti-gun lobby uses this to outlaw guns instead of beserk peanuts.thumbs up
