You mean the IM function. CS's Chat Room continues to operate as it has this past year, while the IM function has not.

I've heard from a few overseas members that it sometimes works, and also that it works from the Chat Room (a different matter), though it never has for me. Nonetheless, the OP makes a point. When you go to log on, the page you see before you log on has a message saying the IM function is down for maintenance "for a few weeks." That message has been in place for a year now. Either they get it working, or take the message down. Otherwise, it's a flat-out lie.

yes= msgs here can take 5-10 mins to get through
no= it wasnt very good, cause if u and the person typed at the same time it automaticly cancelled your msg.And sometimes the popping out of the blue was a bit frighting

I hated it. I couldn't keep it on to chat with people I would want to chat with because all kinds of random dudes would try to chat with me nonstop and none of them had anything to say. I'm pretty sure they were just guys who looked and saw who was online. Every time I got on here I would have all my time sucked up by strangers in other states. I could not have a real conversation with any of them either. If I tried it soon reverted to mindless banter. 
It makes me wonder exactly what they were thinking when they tried to "chat" with me because they really just kept me on the line for no reason at all. It was jus weird. They weren't trying to scam me. They weren't asking for a date. Just bla bla bla.

I thought so too, although I also experienced the annoyance of intrusive strangers. The major reason I'd like to see it return is that now the only option for a private conversation with someone else is an endless series of emails.

Someone has told me that the IM has been used very much for scammers and some new people are not full aware of them.
That might be one of the reasons why is has not been activated to use.
