In some ares it is occurring now...women are being sold for the purpose of being a bride...hardly legal but it happens...being poor drives some to do horrific things... Never did I say it was a purely economical phenomenon...the focus of this discussion pertains to this particular documentary...and if you wanted to add to the discussion...may I suggest you use your words without a smug attitude...
lind There are people trying to educate others about this practice and try to tell women that they don't have to kill or give away their female children...but dowries are still practiced which perpetuates the female infanticide practice and abandonment...

music Thanks for the link...as long as there are people committed to education hopefully these practices will diminish...but even in our western culture...many still practice old ways...hard to break from the trend or the influence...not that western practices are better but understanding that women have value and such old traditions are not religious based but rather a fear based idea...
