Hey Chris, at one time or another we're all accused of that. It's very natural to not agree on many things. We're independent thinkers of course and just don't want to be herded by anyone or anybody. Don't feel bad about it.
We're here to agree and disagree. How boring would it be if we're all yes men.
Well it's nice to join here again as far as I'm concerned and it's same old place I suppose.
I hope you remember me and that I'm not mistaken with your name. If I did my apologies in advance.
Anyways as a believer and born under the Catholic religion, I have the right to believe that my religion is the best to serve my pu r purpose as a human being. It's teachings and my knowledge as to how it got started. Having said that, I'm never going to argue who's the truest, true or perfect religion. My main objective is to be good to me and others and do my hardest not to sin or harm others. I have flaws and imperfections but it's a general knowledge that no is perfect.
Well Tn I remember you so well. Glad to see you back.
You were much funnier then.
Good luck Ten and I hope you find what you're looking for.
Note: as I mentioned on Celtic's post, I don't cook. I'm Filipino with a lot of Spanih and Italian blood and cooking is one of the greatest trais of my family. The reason I don't is because being the eldest with five siblings, I was always working in the fielas a farmer with my dad and then becama University professor after my graduation in the University. So cooking isn't my forte.
Now I attribute my health and healthy body because of eating mostly salad.
My dear Ms. Witch, I have so many typos on my response to you. My apologies.
I am not sure about the purity requiements of the church. At least for my experience. Today in our Filipino culture, baptism is a big deal. That's where and when all the picked GP will attend the spiritual ceremony confirming the commitments of being GP. The parents usually choose the most capable relatives or friends whom they believe can play the role intended.
"But if you get happiness out of your belief, who am I to criticise. It's great to opt out of the real world, and I don't blame you."
Glad to hear your tolerance Crown. Yes at most in the modern day, there's freedom of religion in the first and second world and it's good. I believe there are still places where this basic part of life is denied.
"How well do you play and know your role? Given you are a Godparent that is conversing how serious do you take your responsibilities, do you see such as an honor, burden or task?"
Let me join you in your boredom spell Miss Itchy.
On this question, I do see it and feel it as all of the three.
However, the burden isn't so much provided the parents didn't delegate completely the responsibility. I mean they're not dead or paralyzed that is. Being a Godparent is a very big task. For me, all the eldest of my brother and sister are like y children. We Filipinos generally take it as a wholesome job. Mostly on the advisory part and monetary as well. In my case, I tried my best to perform what I thiis best for all. Meanme, my God children and their parents. I do feel sometimes that expectations are abit different from what must be done. I think I've done my best and that's all that counts. They(God children) are liva decent life and they're happy. My sister is thankful and so does my or did my beloved late baby brother.
I had to research further on your comment Fargo. Thanks for your contribution.
I like what I thought it means. Simplifying it. I read further and this principle is from Hamilton but used Occam's name. I wanted to copy paste but it wouldn't let me.
Theologians used this principle.
My own take: belief in God's existence is both complex and yet simple. For me I just don't have to explain it. With our own individual complex upbringing that's so varied due to culture, values, beliefs and ways of life, I believe explaining our belief can be very exhausting one.
Fair enough Rizla. I'm not here to dispute one's belief nor do I want to change one's belief. I'm lucky my country, the USA haad the founding fathers included God in their creation of a country as big as America.
