vegan or meaty? but alas there is no need for me to ask such stupid questions, not just because thankfully I am not THAT bored but bless me wee little white cotton socks, I've just found me a new role to play

Let me join you in your boredom spell Miss Itchy.
On this question, I do see it and feel it as all of the three.
However, the burden isn't so much provided the parents didn't delegate completely the responsibility. I mean they're not dead or paralyzed that is. Being a Godparent is a very big task. For me, all the eldest of my brother and sister are like y children. We Filipinos generally take it as a wholesome job. Mostly on the advisory part and monetary as well. In my case, I tried my best to perform what I thiis best for all. Meanme, my God children and their parents. I do feel sometimes that expectations are abit different from what must be done. I think I've done my best and that's all that counts. They(God children) are liva decent life and they're happy. My sister is thankful and so does my or did my beloved late baby brother.
Good boredom satee, if you ask me.

I am not sure about the purity requiements of the church. At least for my experience. Today in our Filipino culture, baptism is a big deal. That's where and when all the picked GP will attend the spiritual ceremony confirming the commitments of being GP. The parents usually choose the most capable relatives or friends whom they believe can play the role intended.
