My mom was a true shopaholic. She shopped on QVC and other shopping channels. One day I told her to go ahead and shop but return everything but one item you buy per week.
I've read a story recently about how wonderful A.I. will be in treating paraplegics. One man is already walking with crutches, even walking up steps. My best friend is paraplegic and I hope one day soon he will benefit from this technology.
It was nice to see HJFin's post. He was such a great guy.
It's difficult to be real. Most people want to put their best face forward, but most people aren't phony. Over the years, there are some on CS who have laid out who they really are including their so called "baggage". I have done so myself, and I'm still single.
I used to put on my profile my short comings. I wanted to be real, to be honest and up front. I don't do that anymore as I figured I would rather meet someone face to face, and if they can't accept my health issues, so be it.
Being fake will get you nowhere. Eventually the mask will come off.
Must have been great to be friends and go to school with such tremendous athletes. I went to high school with Sean Landetta, a punter for the New York Giants in the 1980's and 90's.
I was in gym class one day and Sean was a little chubby. Guys were making fun of him and he says back, "girls don't go for the bod, they go for the rod"
A lot of people in the US have tv's that provide free YouTube, so if you are staying with someone, they could have free streaming services. Most hotels offer many free streaming services too.
A cheap burner phone might be a wise investment to talk to people in the US to save data from being used on your phone.
I'll chip in with some honest perspective. I'm 6'2' and hate being somewhat tall. I'm big boned too so I'm kind of a lummox. I am very shy also, and don't want to stick out in a crowd.
I've learned over the years, I should never feel self-conscience about my looks. It took a long time but I'm starting to get over it. I had melanoma on my face and had surgery a few years ago. It left my face scarred up on the left side, but it's not noticeable in my picture. I decided I don't care and I'm going to face the world.
You are in control of how you feel about yourself. Be the best you can be, and everything will fall into place for you. Never worry about what others think.
Great that your trip is coming up fast. If you forget something, you can buy it here. One exception is medication. Make sure you don't forget that item.
