He was divorced from the lady you mentioned. She was remarried and lost her husband a couple of years later.... quite sad. I met the gentleman, and he was very nice.
If you want to keep to a budget, Cracker Barrell is an excellent choice. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner at all times during operating hours. I eat breakfast there once in a while for my dinner. Try Chinatown in DC as another destination for a meal.
I would suggest he Smithsonian Institute as a destination. There are many museums in the purview of the Smithsonian including, The Natural History Museum and the Air and Space Museum. The Washington subway system is excellent and pretty safe.
I joined in November 2005. There were many features back then that are no longer available. Rating pictures was one of them and they would post the highest rated man and woman. There were many rated categories like that.
I go out to dinner all the time by myself. Not much of a movie fan but been to a couple alone. When I see someone in the military, I touch my heart telling them thank you for your service. I also thank veterans for their service if they are wearing something that says they served.
I think society would be better off with more open communication between strangers. Too bad it's trending in the opposite way.
I was diagnosed with depression when I was 15 years old, later to be diagnosed as bipolar II. I had a very nice childhood, so trauma wasn't the culprit. However, I had relatives who had clinical depression so heredity can be a factor. Yes, I am an alcoholic in recovery for 22 years now, but that can be linked to heredity also.
Untreated depression will not cause you to become psychotic. Other life occurrences may lead to psychosis. For some years I was untreated, meaning I didn't take meds and I did ok. I believe that taking meds can lead to brain damage. I had one relative who took imipramine for decades and she ended up with having dementia. I have been on meds for the last 20 years.
Everything I said is anecdotal, as depression is still a mystery.
I looked forward to the county fair as a kid. In Maryland it was in Timonium and still is. The rides, the games, the food...what a great time. From what I understand the fair is still going strong, but they added live bands, so I think that helped a great deal.
