I was thinking about a similar thing a month or so ago. But I think maybe I came to a different conclusion than you have here.

It dawned on me one day, that after a certain period of time engaging, this website actually becomes a microcosm of the real world. Sure, maybe not as it relates to insecurities and inhibitions (asking absurd questions, being bold, etc) but, all the typical social aspects are present here.

People form cliques, people gossip, people pick and choose whom they feel they would best relate to, people flirt, people dream, people share stories...people exhibit many of the same behaviors they would in real life, but maybe here they are magnified to a certain extent.

I think one of the main differences for me at least, is that there is alot more time to reflect on what we write than there would be in real life. I can edit, I can withold information, I can research, but, in real life, you dont have the time to do all those things. This extra time is what allows people to stray from their true self, and I suppose create a somewhat 'secondary personality' if you will.

Anyway, to answer your question, I think many people here are just searching for some unknown thing to take them away from the real world temporarily, and maybe go over the top with sharing information, or like you said, are unaware of your style, or your reactions, and you may also be editing and sugarcoating your reactions, to be polite, and these things can be mistaken........all in all, I suppose there are perks and downsides to the internet, its just a matter of perspective

I say you put a little jar above the water dispenser, saying 'take a drink, leave a tip' or something like that....I dont think its that they dont have money to buy those things....but they probably dont make it a priority to go to the store becuase they are too busy partying....so, I think if you are not going to tell them 'No' then simply ask that they somehow return the favor...or at the very least putting the jar there will make them realize how much they are using your things

But yes, many people now focus alot on money, but you often pose many connundrums that cannot be answered.

yeah, the whole concept of 'God fearing' never made much sense to me, unless you mean Fear is Love and Love is Fear. Because God is simply love, and would not punish or 'judge' anyone for their wrong doings, this is a grand misconception brought about by thousands of years of history and religion.

Funny you mention the above quote, and not sure if you are aware, but in many states in the US there are actually death taxes.....depending on the state laws and the value of your estate upon death...your family could end up paying a heap of cash just because you died!

Hi Mr. Quest-

Something I think people can do to improve themselves is put themselves in situations they normally wouldn't, travel, be open-minded, think outside the box, and explore and try new things whenever possible. Maybe find something you've always been interested in, and go to an event, or read a book about it, or interact with a group of likeminded individuals.

The more we interact with people and things outside of our comfort zone, the more we will grow as individuals. Life is too short to not take chances, to not explore, to not dream!
